Water Pressure

I have a 2001 Colman (Fleetwood) Timberlake with shower. We mostly drycamp at state parks and would like to use the shower, but I can never seem to get good pressure from the pump. I'm not sure what exactly may cause this. I'm pretty sure the battery is charged, the water tank is full, the camper is level, the sink is not running. I know at home hooked to the hose I get great pressure. The pump just sputters and spits water out of the tap. Is it time for a new pump? Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Has it ever worked?  Or is this an issue that you have always had?  How's the water pressure in the sink?  It's possible that if all water systems are sputtering, the hoses have a small hole where the pump is not able to properly suck the water out of the tank.

You will never get the same pressure from your little w/pump that you get from city-water hook-up. However, you should get a steady stream of water (as frustrating as that may be).

There are heavier pumps on the market. This is the one that I had on my boat:

It puts out 4.5g per minute and offers a real good shower. The ones that are typically installed in PUs are 2.8gpm.

Here's the deal though. I carried 300 gallons of water in my boat. The typical PU carries 15-20 gallons. I also had 3 - 8D batteries with about 750 amps of capacity. The typical PU has 1 - 27 series battery with a (questionable) 100 amps of storage. You may want to think twice about installing a larger pump.

My thought is the same as fritz_monroe. Check for air leaks between the pump and tank first.

How neat we have a 2000 Coleman Fleetwood Timberlake!  We have only had issues like that when Something was blocking the valve.  Have you ever done a bleaching of your tanks?  That really helped, and our pressure came back.  You need to make sure your pump is on...there is a switch on the galley top that says on off, make sure your in the on, you've got full charge.  You can also hook it up to your house having shore power and see if that's improving it.

If not - try bleaching to see if clogging is occuring.

if none of the suggestions are helping - a pump may be in order.

* OK re-read your post, sounds like a new pump may be in order....

I have used the sink in the past with good pressure, but last year I had trouble with the sink and shower. I will check the hose from the pump back to the tank. I did replace the shower faucet last year when I discovered a pin hole after the winter.

Let us know what you end up finding.  Hope it goes smoothly and you are able to track it down fairly quickly.

Sounds like air is leaking into the pump, maybe there is a hairline crack? If you can find it try sealing the crack with some JB Weld for plastic.

Another possibility is a clogged screen.  There is a screen (plastic, about 1/8" mesh) just before the water enters the pump.  They can clog, and when they do, you won't get a lot of water.

I was thinking it is the screen too.  I clean mine at least once a year.  The pump I have twist apart and the screen in inside.:)
