Looking for a campground between June Mountain and Lee Vining California. We will be coming over the hill (LOL) from Yosemite.  Do not want a real primitive, but it does not necessarily have to be a five star RV park either. Just looking for a night or two. I want to go to Bodie for a day and down to Mammoth to take a gondola ride, and have a nice base to come back to.

Back when DH and I were tenters, we stayed at Annett's Mono Village in Twin Lakes at least 3 times each year--from April through October. They have trailers sites with W/E/S. It's right on upper Twin Lake at the base of some beautful jagged peaks. I've never seen them without snow, even in summer. I don't think they take reservations (call to make sure), but we never, ever had a problem getting a site--even during peak summer months. You can rent boats at the lake and go fishing or fish from the shore. Bodie is just a short jaunt down the 395. To get to Annett's Mono Vilage, head South on the 395 after coming down the pass from Yosemite and turn right at the first street entering Bridgeport and follow it to the end--about 10 miles.

There are also some national park cgs in that area. OC Campers has stayed quite a few times at Robinson Creek cg--you might PM her for details. I think you have to reserve Robinson Creek and the other national park cgs through Reserve America. I have Tom Stienstra's book, California Camping, and it has a lot of cgs in that area, a number of which are in the June Lake loop. It descibes and rates each cg and gives you contact information for each one. You might want to get that book if you don't already have it--it's well worth the $20 or so. I enjoy just flipping through it sometimes and dreaming of camping. But then again, some people say I'm weird. :) ;)
