Afternoon!  We have a 1991 Palomino SXL hard side.  We just got it at the end of season last year and haven't gotten it any farther than the driveway yet!  A bit of history, then my question.  This was bought for my elderly mom.  she needs solid beneath and around her, and a warm dry place when we go camping.  We tend to go a week at a time, 2 trips planned this year.  So, the camper will be used for her sleeping space, and a warm place for her to crochet if the weather turns raunchy.  It will also be used to replace the open trailer we usually use to haul our stuff.  DH, DD Ddalmatian, and I all tent.  We cook outside in a screenhouse area.  We're into DO cooking and all that goes with it. Mom has always just slept in DB's camper, which he took just for her and is wanting to sell.   So..I took the stove unit out (was an easy piano hinge) to give us a bit more folded down floor space.  There's a special place for her porta pot, all set there.  Now I'm looking at the dinnette.  Mom uses a walker, and for her to wheel past the bench would be hard...so DB and I will move the seat against the wall.  I'll take the table right out, probably put a tv tray or 2 in there.  My question is this..... the odds of us selling the camper in the next couple of years is very slim.  Should I concern myself with "how it would look to resell" or just make this camper do what we need it to do?  I ask this , as my attitude was, it's my camper, if I ever want to resell, folks will have to take it as it is...but DB is all for making it so we can "turn it back the way it was" Thoughts on this? when you do your mods, are you "living for the moment' or thinking of the next guy?
Thanks!
Lisa

The answer depends on how much you expect to get when you resell the camper.  When you sell the camper, unless it is fairly close to the orginal configuration, it is not going to suit most buyers and you should expect a substantially lower value.  However, you might get lucky and find a buyer that is looking for the layout as you have it (but unlikely).  Unless you plan on patching all the holes and cutting or modifying the bench, how hard would it be to store the pieces, and put it back when you are ready to sell?

My two cents.....it is your trailer, and do whatever you want so that you and your family can enjoy the time with your mother.  You've already paid for the camper.  Unless you need must get a certain amount at resale, make the changes, enjoy camping and just set a reasonable price when you sell it given the modifications.
