Anyone ever have a Dry Rid explode in their camper?  Well, explode is a bit drastic, it split open and spilled the oily mess all over the flooring, and that is how we started our trip, trying to wipe it up, and it just seemed to be dripping down from the wood in the dinette, what a mess.

1. I know we need the dry rid, but is there another product?
2. How many people don't put any type of Dry rid product in their pup?

We don't put anything like that in ours. We just open it up once a week on a campout :D .

Wayne so say I open it once a month or every two months, in our weather...do I need to put that in there?

I mean if we do we'll place in in a five gallon bucket so if it leaks again it's in the bucket....obviously it absorbed SOMETHING to make it that moist?! or maybe it was too hot int he pup?  So frustrating..makes you want to put a camera in there to see what goes on when it's folded down! :p

Do you park yours in the garage? If you do and are still concerned about moisture, you may want to consider putting a small fan inside and leaving the door open or the top unfastened or both.

Where you live is fairly dry year round (compared to a lot of places) and it doesn't get below 25 or 30 ever. I would think that you have little to worry about unless it rained the last time that you camped.

As you stated, if you want to put that stuff in your PU, just put a little in the bottom of a baking pan or bucket. I wouldn't think that an entire bag would be needed. However, it is very curious why the bag split like that :eyecrazy: .

It was actually a bucket of damp rid, you get from walley world.  No the Pup is outside in a driveway....The plastic split clear open and you got to see what was inside.  All over the flooring was a oily substance that just about freaked me out - I kept thinking that whole night - we're breathing that in we're gonna get cancer :eyecrazy: I get a little uptight at times  :yikes:

I don't use anything in my camper or in my last camper.  We haven't had any problems with moisture in either camper, and we have had a PU for 10 years.:)

Thanks I guess it's just a goopy mess that's not worth the trouble!

I use stuff called 'Dry Out'.  It's in a plastic jar.  Open the lid, put it in the trailer, and check it every 2 weeks, pouring off the water that accumulates until the product is gone.

Here in N. Cal. near the ocean there is a lot of humidity.  Didn't use anything like this until we opened our trailer and found a small garden growing on the bunkends due to condensation from the roof.  Since using this we haven't had a problem - even with this winters unending rain.

i use it , never had a problem, i place it in the sink!  i can't understand how it exploded if you had the cover off to catch the moisture!

I opened my camper yesterday and found my damp rid hard and crusty in the plastic cup.  Is it supposed to do that?  There were a few little beads that turned in the little wet puddles.  There is nothing in the bottom of the larger cup that is supposed to catch moisture.
