Prodigy Installation Question

I'm installing a Prodigy Brake Controller into my Saturn Vue which was not equiped with a tow package.  The install instructions say connect the + (positive) lead of the Prodigy to a self resetting circuit breaker (which I have) then directly to the + (positive) terminal of the battery.

My question..... Is the Prodigy controller hot or live all of the time??  Does this unit automatically shut itself off after a period of time when not in use?  I don't see an "on/off" switch and the instructions say nothing about connecting the unit thru a "key" switched or activated circuit?

Thanks,

To answer your question, yes the unit shuts itself off automatically (delay between 15 to 30 min.)

I installed mine in a new 2006 Dodge w/factory tow (plug-n-play with Dodge harness) and I noticed that 1 or 2 dots (depending on boost setting) remained lit at the bottom of the display when I shut off the ignition.

I can't remember if I found it in the manual or not, but I had to call the help center on a different matter and confirmed the auto shutoff with them.

Hope this helps and enjoy the new controller.

The unit energizes when you step on the brake pedal and shuts off some time after the vehicle is shut down.  But when you are driving, it is hot all the time.

Yes it will shut itself off when the vehicle is turned off.  There is a delay, but it will not drain your battery.:)

Just to be nit picky, my manual says that it shuts off after several minutes of not sensing vehicle movement.  So if you rock your car for long enough after shutting down, it just might drain your battery.  :p
