Well, we finally bought our first pop up :p  (99 Coleman Bayside) thrilled we have one!
My question I'd like to ask- has anyone experienced any problems with getting a hitch installed from a U-Haul center?  We're in the New England area, MA to be exact.  U-Haul has their own brand of hitches, but we've heard that Reese and Husky are the best types.  U-Haul is $150 less than a dealer in our area for a hitch, ball & electric brakes.  Is it better to go directly to an RV dealer to have one installed?  (we bought our pu privately)
Figured we'd see if anyone has an opinion on this before we went to U-Haul.
Thanks!!

Dunno 'bout them installing it, but back in the mid 90's, I bought a 1977 Chrysler New Yorker.  Went lookin' for a hitch for it, and U-Haul was the only place that could get me one.  Installed it myself.

I would not waste your money and have anyone install it.  It is very easy to install one yourself I have done it many times on my older vehicle as well as friends.  But if you do go with uhaul a hitch is a hitch no matter who makes it.  As long as it tows what ever is behind you.

U-Hauls are a franchise and as such will vary from place to place. Around here even the RV dealers send folks to U-Haul to get setup.
If it was just the hitch I'd say DIY. But once you get into wiring for brakes and 12 volt it can be a pain if you don't know exactly what and where to run the wiring.
We used to always do our own, but after having it cost $400 to replace a computer because of touching a wire to the wrong terminal we now also go to U-Haul.

I get all my hitches from U-Haul online http://store.uhaul.com/hitches.aspx  and install them myself.  The last two were rebadged Valleys - with the U-Haul sticker simply covering the Valley one.  I saved a lot of $$ doing it that way.

Nothing wrong with U-Haul doing it for you. What kind of TV do you have. It might be a easy do it yourselfer.

I used U-Haul twice in the past, and they did an great job at a fair price.

Both times involved wiring the TV.

The last one I had installed, they threw in a really neat tote bag to store the receiver, ball, and pin in when not in use.

I would recommend the place that installed mine to everyone...... but since they are all a franchise, it's pretty much the luck of the draw.

We have always gotten ours done at the dealer.  Someone will probably say we paid too much, but we are not do it yourselfers and DH would rather pay a little more to make sure it is done right.

Don't waste your time with u-haul. You have some min wage kid with a 3.00 test light. We had a truck done there and he some how got a fuel wire that took 2 days to fix. Take it to the dealer, get it installed correctly.

If you have a frame based tow vehicle, a hitch is a very easy install, just heavy and awkward to handle.  If you have a unitized body, then they can get a bit more tricky to install if you haven't done it before.  Usually putting a hitch on a unitized body involves drilling, and can require making cuts in the body or moldings.  I buy my hitches (Reese) from a trailer and pickup cap place.  Costs $50 to install any hitch on anything.  Can't remember if he wanted more for wiring or not.  For $50, it's worth it in my opinion on a unitized body.
