broken lift cable

Hi,  I have a 1996 Rockwood 1904. The Cable broke. It was rusted up near the winch. I just bought the camper and the second time we opened it it broke. Does anyone know how to repair this type cable.

I have a 93 Rockwood had it for 1 year now and openned it up this year and cant get it cracked down!  Called 4 dealerships and no one can seem to help me and wont do "service calls" to the site.  I cant take it in cause  I cant get it down.   I just went to an upgrade on a travel trailer and told the dealer "come pick up my pop up!"  They said they cant really be trouble shot by the buyer, must take it in.  ( I couldnt get mine down so i'm screwwed for repair.) I'm done with pop ups...

I too have a popup with a broken cable.  I've called in my area and am being told the cost for repair would be between $400 and $1000.  Is this right?  It sounds like a lot of money to replace a cable.  Thanks.

My local dealer quated me 200.00, Which seems fair. I still would prefer to do it myself. Ive yet to find out how to do it. Good luck to you.

HERE is a link to one company that makes lift systems for pop-ups.  In case that doesn't help, I have a fleetwood lift manual in a pdf format about 14k in size.  I have tried several times to attach it to this message without success. I don't know if it's too big or what.  Anyway, if you would like me to email it to you, send me your email address using the private message and I'll send it.

mine is a Starcraft with the Goshan Stamping lifting design.  If this is the same as yours, then order the cable for $10.00 from Goshan and do it yourself.  I took 1 hour to do mine.   Good luck.
