Greetings, I am a new member to this group so please bear with me as I ask naive questions to learn about our new "used" camper. We bought a 2001 Coleman Santa Fe a few weeks ago and are the 3rd owners. We have the original sales receipt, and it shows that an electric lift system was added by the dealer for the original buyer. The 2nd owner said he never used it, so he couldn't show us how it works. Can someone explain to me where I would see the electric lift system, and how it works? Do we need any special equipment to operate it?

TIA,
Mary Jo

we had an 01 coleman timberlake and had the dealer install the lift system when we bought the p/u. you should have a cord with an up and down button on it and a plug next to the crank hole on the bumper all you have to do is plug in and push the button there is also a override button on the crank motor under the camper to make manual cranking easier, if you don't have the cord you can get one ordered from your local dealer. the only problem we had with ours was the plug end of the cord got twisted and pulled the wires out but it was under warranty.
hope this helps

Make sure that the  battery wires to electric lift are hooked up..If lift does not work when the UP botton is pushed, push the rubber covered switch on the side of the control box [where the up and down switch plugs in]..If this switch is off  lift will not work because it is disengaged so top can be hand cranked without resistance from lift.

As mentioned above, cord plug in can sometimes cause a problem. To prevent this, I moved the lift control box up to the side of the trailer by the door. Installed a 6X6" white plastic locking door in the side and built a small compartment behind it that is big enough to hold the control box, wire and up-down switch which stays connected to the control box.. This makes the control very easy to get to and keeps it dry when towing in wet weather.....

Well it turns out the electic lift system was removed long ago, which explains why I didn't see it or recognize it! That explains that. Thanks for the responses.  :-)
