We were coming home from a trip last week and ran into a horrendous rain storm.  Driving rain so hard you could not see the road, even the tractor trailers were pulled over.  When we got home the front mattress was wet as was some of the floor.  The only thing we could figure was that the rain came in somehow throught the AC unit? Anyone have a similar experience as this. We thought maybe there was a way to tighten the unit down on the roof, it seems to be able to move rather easily with a push (is that normal?) Have searched the internet for info and have come up short.  Would appreciate any help I can get.

Thanks

2Aplus2, I am just guessing you have an 8000 series 13,500 BTU unit.  HERE is a link to the manufacturers installation instrucions.  it looks like on page 6 of the instructions that there are 4 bolts/screws which secure the unit to the roof.  It also discusses how to know when they have been properly tightened.  It also appears that you will have to remove the inside fan shroud assembly to get to those 4 bolts.  It doesn't look too difficult.

good luck

Thanks, as we took it apart we saw that the gasket had shifted over and there was a 1/4 in gap! Moved it back into place and did the garden hose test on it, no leaks so far.  The weird thing is that there is no mounting collar, but a 14 in x 14 in hole anyway!  We bought it used and I don't know if previous owner installed AC himself...can't remember.  Anyway Thanks so much for you suggestion and you were right on with your advice!!

I am glad it is the AC unit.  I was going to suggest that it was a sagging ABS roof that was allowing water into the camper.  I had that problem with mine:(, until I had the roof replaced.
