Broken Outdoor Shower Faucet!

Hello, it's been quite a while since I've been on these boards.  Great to be back!

Our problem:  Our 2002 Coleman Cheyenne has not been used for over a year and we are experiencing many small issues - fuses, battery, cracked water hose - before we leave tomorrow.  The latest is that the outdoor shower faucet knobs are broken!  The hot knob started shooting water out as my DH was flushing system.  After taking it apart, he saw that the threads had completely cracked in half inside the knob.  Upon inspecting the cold knob, the threads were also cracked and on their way to completely breaking in two.

Since we are leaving tomorrow, we were wondering if there was any advice from others who have this shower.  Really, it's a piece of junk - it's turned yellow on most parts and is quite flimsy.  We'd be fine not using it, but we need to disconnect it from the water system so we have pressure.

Our paperwork shows that it is a 742003 Outside Shower Hose from LaSalle Bristol.

Any advice?  Thanks!

Laura

I had the same problem with my inside shower, what I did was to remove the hoses from the fixture and plug them with a pipe plug and then you can take the valve to your local rv dealerand match up the valves. they just screw in to the fixture body and are easy to replace. I did mine at a campground on a sat. morn.
hope this helps

Thanks so much for the speedy reply!  Q:  When you say pipe plugs, what are those?  Also, how long have your replacement valves lasted?  I'm wondering if it would be better to just get a new faucet - if the outdoor shower is the same size as other faucets.  Any thoughts on that?

thanks again!  :)

You can probably find a good replacement faucet at  Home Depot, Lowes, even Wal Mart for a much cheaper price than an RV dealer...I disconnected ours, which is located on the slideout, because we had a lot of trouble with leaks and for lack of use....
