We recently tried out Hueston Woods and were disappointed.  We reserved a site, unseen, based on the online description.  The description said the site was 38 feet by 86 feet... it was NOT!  It was actually about 20 by 30 feet.  The description also said the site was full shade.  There were some bushes to the rear, but no large trees.  We went back to the camp check in and they were gracious enough to give us a list of available sites.  As we drove around the electric sites available I was very disappointed to see that most of the pads were shared pads and they were not level.  To get a level pad you would have to go to the pull through area.  Luckily campers can put their trailers in the grass...which is what we had to do.  The electric camp area is very hilly.

NOISE!  Everyone around us had TV's outside, and radios blaring into the night- no ranger in sight.  One of our neighbors started playing Playstation in their tent at 11pm with the volume turned up.  We finally had to ask them to turn it down.  There was a highschool football team camping next to us as well.  They occupied 8 sites and were all over the place and loud.  They even left their trash out everywhere... again no ranger or camp host to reprimand them.  Also, a family reunion took place at the campground ( I believe one of the families near us was camping).  The rest of the family- looked like about 50 people- came to the campground and parked up and down our loop... once again, no one around to ask them to move to one of the MANY day use areas.

Saving grace- we drove into the non-electric area and despite the pit toilets and no showers, the camp sites were beautiful.  The entire area was flat and open and well shaded, it was also surrounded by woods. There were not many people back there and the play area for the kids was great!  If we go back, we will go to the non-electric area.

We took a drive through one time to look at the CG and were very disappointed as well... seemed everyone was sandwiched in... we did go to the non-electric and have to agree they were great sites, but it had recently rained and the majority of those sites were flooded... so if you go back, be sure it doesn rain..

If you're interested in camping this weekend, we are heading for East Fork Friday (8/11)... would love to share the campfire.
