Spacer needed on Reese 350 WDH?

Just bought a new Fleetwood popup with a Reese Mini 305 WDH. The dealer installed it and we've had all sorts of problems with this dealer. Anyway, I was reading the install instructions for the kit and it says that a spacer is need if the height of the trailer frame is less than 4". My frame is only 3" tall and there was no spacer installed.

It would appear that this spacer would provide support when the nut is tightened to pull the U-bolt tight against the frame. Otherwise, there could be some bending.

I called another dealer today and they weren't aware of any spacer part that Reese makes. Reese's website doesn't show one either. Does anyone have one of these WDH's installed properly with the spacer? If so, did your dealer fabricate one from scratch? TIA.

Reese expects you to come up with your own spacer.  A piece of hard wood about 1"x2"x4" would do.  If it's not hard (such as oak), better go with something else, such as aluminum block.

I have two pieces of hardwood that have been in place for 25,000 miles and six years without a problem.

Thanks Austin. I wasn't sure if Reese sold something but then I realized that different frames would need different spacers. I have a friend who owns a body shop so I'll probably have him make a few spacers out of some scrap. The hardwood idea is great. Thanks.
