I just bought a C-27 12V marine battery and I want to charge it with my Honda EU2000i generator. I have the proper Honda DC charging cables, but have no idea how long it takes to charge. Should I buy a meter that tells me when it is fully charged?

Thanks.

You can charge the battery with the Honda and the 12 volt charging cables, but you will get a better, faster charge using a regular 3 stage "smart charger" battery charger.:)

I would NOT charge my battery that way. Get yourself a good 3 stage smart charger and it will last you a life time. Only in a pinch would I use the Honda generator to charge my battery not for maintaining it.

I just went down to our local marine store here in Redondo Beach and bought a Guest "smart charger". I paid $60.00 for it...not bad.

Thanks for the advice.

Maybe you would if you were using the honda to power the three-stage charger, but I agree, the 12V output of most small generators would be a last resort for charging a battery.
