Leaks in new Fleetwood Utah

We are new to pop-up camping- we just bought a Fleetwood Utah last week.  We have it set up in our driveway, and last night there was a heavy rain.  This morning I went into the pop up to check for leaks, and I found water puddled on a storage top, and under the dinette slide out (Both are right next to eachother, and the walls were not wet).  There are no holes in the canvas, and when we put it up we tried to make sure all of the velcro was secure.  The driveway is not perfectly level, but pretty close.  Is it normal to experience some water coming in during a prolonged rain?  Is it okay to use a silicone sealer around where the fabric walls meet the metal sides?

Thanks for your help!

We had our Utah for 4 years and never experienced leaks, even in some fairly nasty rain storms.

I'm not sure how the floorplan is set up in the new units. Did you check to see if any water came down one of the support posts? I know that when a neighbor of ours had their Coleman set up on their driveway, it was slightly pitched so that the dinette side was lower than the door side and some rain came in and down where the support pole meets the aluminum sidewall on the door side.

You may want to dry up the water and do a hose test on it with someone inside who could possibly see where the water is coming in from.

Make sure you get it really dry and use Damprid when the unit is down to keep moisture levels down.

I would get it back to the dealer (if that is where you purchased it) as soon as possible to have the leak looked at.

Get it back to the dealer as soon as possible, you should not be having leaks in your new pop-up. I would not advise trying to repair it yourself simply because this could void your warranty.

Good Luck

I agree--our Utah is 4 years old and never had a leak. "KNOCK ON CANVAS" :)

Thanks for all of the responses.  Like I said, we are new to this, and I didn't think that it was supposed to leak at all but wasn't entirely sure.  I'll be calling the dealership first thing tomorrow.

I hope this isn't indicative of what our pop-up experience will be in the future!  We are very excited about owning one, especially after our last camping trip with myself, my husband and three children stuck in the tent while it rained with all of our games and books still in the van.

I find this site very helpful.

Thanks again.
