I'm trying to decide whether to carry my new kayak on top of my vehicle or my pop-up. If any of you own a kayak and transport it to the campground with you what are your thoughts and suggestions.

Thanks

I'd carry it on the car.  If you carried it on the popup, how would you get it to the water once you got set up in the campground?

Car/truck top. That way your kayaking will not be limited to only when and where you are camping.

Thanks

You both made good suggestions. The car top it is.

I carry my canoes on the camper using the foam blocks. Then use them on the TV (or any other vehicle) to transport to where-ever. The idea of carrying on the camper, for long distances anyway, is not to have the bow of the boat right over the windshield and obstructing some vision anyway.

That's what I do too. I guess a lot depends on the TV.

I think that you may have less wind resistances on the camper top also.

We carried our 3kayaks on the popup with foam blocks. The bikes go on top of the TV!

We tried on top of the pup with foam and it left indentations after just trying it, my husband just about DIED!  When we take all six we'll have to take two cars and deal with gas $ and all that, you can look at our pictures in my sig to see how we carry 3 on top of the vehicle.
