Well, when my van died almost two years ago and I got my new Mazda, I told Paul, "Yes, I know this means no new trailer for a while."  Then he started warming up to it, but financially it's just not feasible right now, but maybe we could squeeze it if I worked a little more.  But, Emily started her braces Wednesday, so until those suckers are paid off, we'll continue popping up.  Oh, well -- at least her teeth will be straight for camping!  LOL

That's a bummer, it's always something.   Our problem is that we have to sell our trailer, which isn't seemingly easy, to get our hybrid.  We're in a time crunch too.  In order for us to order the hybrid we want, we have to put down a $5,000 deposit before they can order and we have to sell our trailer to get that.  After we put it on order, it can take 4-6 weeks for delivery.  This means that if everything isn't just right, we may be tenting it for the Halloween rally and then why bother until early next year.   Also, if we get our hybrid, it will delay us in getting me a new car, it's becoming a money pit.  Owe, the sacrafices we have to make.

One day you will be suprised when the timing is right, you'll find your perfect trailer, pick it up and go camping and think it was worth waiting for.

Good luck

Aaahhh, the sacrifices of parenthood.  Sadly, not every parent is willing to make them in the best interests of of their children.  Even though you still won't have a hybrid for a while, I hope you and Paul remind yourselves what good parents you are every time you see Emily's braces.  :)

It's always something isn't it..........We always felt when Jim retired we would be traveling around in our hybrid but due to health reasons he had to retire early and needless to say the retirement pay took a drop........but thank goodness we have our paid for pup and do enjoy camping in it ........We will enjoy it more if we can find the short in the ceiling wiring and our over head lights and bunk end fans work again.........Every time you look at your DD braces be proud you put your needs aside and gave her a lifetime smile........She'll thank you everyday of her life.............Good parents are a gift put a star on your chest.........Cuz you are one of the good ones......carol

Whats so bad about having a PU? I dont get it with the Hybrids. My wife and I didn't buy the PU because we couldn't afford a hybrid, we like the PU's better, i love tent camping, and ours fits in the garage with about 8 inches to spare so i dont have to pay for storage. Out here storage is about $140.00 to $180.00 a month, thats crazy!!! You cant really store your RV outside here in Vegas because you have to worry too much about dry rot and other things. This is just my opinion, not trying to offend anyone........Ed C.

No offense taken.  I love the floorplan of my trailer and it's served us very, very well.  IMHO it's the best floorplan Coleman had.  I can and have slept seven people comfortably, once with three teenage boys (thought mine's listed at sleeping nine, we all know they mean nine toddlers, not nine adults).  When we bought it, I wasn't looking for a potty and shower because I didn't want the wasted floorspace and hassle of water on the floor.  Now that DD is a 'tween, with all that involves, and in light of some of the nasty showers/restrooms we've encountered at CGs, I'm liking the idea of having my own potty and shower.

Big factor is that my DH has a bad back, will always have a bad back, and it concerns me as he's getting older and his back is more fragile when I see him doing the involved setup.  We help, but of course he does the heavy stuff.  I'd also like to have something we can stop in for the night and it be easier to set up so we'd not have to pay for a hotel en route during our vacation times.

Another factor is just plain old movin' on up.  When you bought your first home, you probably thought it was your forever home, and then you later felt the need to upgrade for one reason or another.  It's the same thing with moving up to a hybrid.  One of the reasons PU'ers move up to a hybrid instead of a hardside (for the most part that's the leap, but there are exceptions of course) is we like the feel of the bunks, the openness it provides, the maximizing the floor plan the bunks provide.  We'll always be PU'ers at heart!

I'm with you Camping Cox's.  We are looking for a hybrid because we'd  like having more living area and the beds are outside.  You can still open up the ends to let air in and get more light.   The shower/potty came in handy for our kids in our PUP but it's not accessable when traveling.   I guess, a hybrid is the best of both worlds.

uh, well, um {sputter, sputter, backpedal}, I'm speechless!  I'm so used to so much arguing and long insulting posts lately on PUT when anyone expresses an opinion that I don't quite know how to take this one!   :J
