We just returned from a Labor Day camping trip - the campground allows dogs. I love dogs, but I don't like some of their humans. For example, I thought dogs were supposed to be leashed - there were some running around freely doing their business anywhere they chose.... and our campsite was chosen as the Doogy Poop Zone! For 3 days we had to pick up poop or deal with the odor and flies, not to mention the possible health hazzard.
Another senario... inconsiderate human walking her leashed dog. Dog poops 5 ft away from my pop-up and next to my car. She walks away without a care in the world! My sister had to stop me from picking up the poop and throwing it at her!
And this is plain cruelty... a poor dog was chained up in the hot sun for 5 hours without food or water. The poor animal had wrapped the chain around obstacles and could barely move. I gave him some water and he lapped and lapped and then I untangled the poor creature.  I gave him some lovin' and said his human should be hung on a short rope for being so mean. I had no idea she was inside the camper and she must have heard every word I said because she eventually emerged from her
pit from hell with a drink in hand. I guess the comment about calling the Humane Society or taking the animal myself jolted her from the obvious drunken stuppor she was in. She then tended to her poor pet... maybe out of guilt?
I know there are lots of folks out there who love and care for their pets. You can camp next to me anytime! But, for those who are so careless, ignorant or just plain stupid, please stay at home until you can handle the responsibility of caring for your camping pet.... and clean up after them!!!

We ran into some people like that at Assateague Island National Seashore.  They left 4 large dogs tied to a picnic table when they went out for the evening.  The NPS staff called animal control, but the people came back before animal control got there.  They were fined for leaving the dogs, but they didn't understand what they did wrong.  They were fined for what they did.  The one woman commented "I will go to the office in the morning and take care of this...They were tied we didn't leave them running loose".  The dogs did run loose in the early morning though, right into my campsite to do their business.  Then there was the guy next door running his generator before 6 am...:banghead:
