A few of us, COTOCians, were talking about going to Medieval Times Dinner Theater in New Jersey for an off season get together. How many of you are interested and when would you want to go?:)

We saw this show in Kissimmee.  The show was good, not great, but we are pretty demanding of the quality of shows we see.  We did enjoy seeing it.  The food was average.  Don't expect a gourmet meal.  It included all you want beer/wine.  Not sure if that's a really great idea, but we did try it (not enough to have an effect).  It was pretty low quality beer and wine.  They sell better stuff, if you so desire.

Since we already have seen the show, or similar, we probably wouldn't be looking to do it again.

Anyone for Broadway?

DiW

Dave, like you, I've done the medieval times bit - probably more than once so I'm not too excited about it. Same show, same food. But the company (PUTers) would be superb!

I'm usuallly up for Broadway shows - used to go in once a month or so back in college and young mom stage. I'm a bit spoiled. Grew up going in for 1/2 price tickets. Have to buy them day of the show so that's harder to do with a group and have to be flexible on what to see..I'll keep this in mind. Haven't seen much lately - just Riverdance (again) ithis summer. Heard Lord of the Dance is touring again. My 8th grader is going into NYC with school to see Tarzan in Oct and Wicked in the spring. Think my 12th grader is going to see a play also this yr. Typical outing for the schools around here. Gets crazy expensive coz they go on the fancy buses (with tvs), go out to lunch and then sometimes they include a dinner/dance cruise on the Hudson River... It is nice seeing the kids all dressed up though. They have no choice (suits & dresses) or they can't go.

We're interested - maybe before Christmas or after New Years would be good, since Dec / Jan are the "off season" for us as far as camping.  (We are nuts with our last trip camping Thanksgiving week in Nov, and our first trip in Feb!)

We've been to the NJ M.T. a few times.  Yes it's the same show, but it has been fun each time, the food is good IMO and fun to eat with no utensils.  You get a bowl of soup, literally 1/2 a chicken, a BBQ rib, a potato, and an apple pie type thingie.  Two sodas are included in the price.  Like Di said, after the first time, it's who you go with that makes it fun.  I would look forward to going there with some fellow COTOCians.

Would have to agree the company would be great for MT.

We've done the twofers thing ourselves, and seen some good shows that way.  A lot of this would depend on dates for us.

We've never seen the RCMH Christmas show, that might be something to shoot for.  DD and DW (and I) would be excited to see that, and we've considered trying to see it for several years now, and it's just not worked.  Anybody have an in to discount tickets there?  The ticketmaster webpage shows an area for promotion and discount codes.  How do you get the codes?  Regular price is $50 to $150.  You'd need binoculars from the $50 seats in that hall.  As long as the musicians don't go on strike again!

We have also been to MT in Florida, but for an off season thing with friends I would go again.  If Broadway is what the group wanted to do that would be OK too.:)

dthurk

Maybe we should consider doing both.  I'd be willing to give up our SC trip over Christmas to do a group thing.  We don't get to NYC as often as we'd like to.  The Christmas show runs through 12/30 and MT's got  to be running continuously.  We'd be willing to go to MT one night and the Christmas show the next (or previous).  Would sometime between Christmas and New Years fit schedules?  Actually, Liberty Harbor RV Park(ing lot) is open year round.  Can't see paying $200 or more for a hotel room when we have the mansion on wheels sitting in the drive.

Now, this would be a hard sell.  DW hasn't quite settled into the idea of a Dec. camping trip to SC.  Wait until I tell her we're now considering camping in NYC instead!

There is a certain premier in NYC, I think on the 23rd (Friday???) I would LOVE to see...well stand out side of and take pictures and an autograph...I was not planning on going beings that I did NYC in Feb and like to Froze...that was the same weekend you all were at Pinegrove. So I am still a little gun shy of that city in Winter...and right before Christmas...

Have mever een to MT, but my co-worker's son goes whenever he can get up the money...they love it...everytime she goes to Disney (about 3 times a year, her brother gets the family year passes and he takes her and her youngest son and foots the bill for them and his own 5 children...must be nice) they go to MT.  Her son in ADHD in the worst case scenario, and he cannot be heard in there, so it is a plus for them.  Wanted to take Jeffrey when I was in Myrtle Beach a few years ago, but could not find the daggoned place...I for one really want to go and I have a complete wardrobe incase anyone wants to be a lady or a wench...I got several of both...no royal stuff though...I am merchant class all the way with a little wench on the edge...

I didn't know people dressed up to go to MT.  No one was dressed except the staff when we went in Florida.:)

Saaaaay, this has got some possibilities. Jeanette and I have been talking about going to this for a while now. Perhaps this might just get us off our butts and make it happen...  :p
