I have a 1995 jayco, we are not using it now until we can come with a fix.
The roof sways in the up position almost between 8 to 10 inches . I have taken it to a jayco dealer and he told me that jayco made a big mistake on this model and only made it two years and that they would not work on it  that it was not safe I called jayco three time and they don't want to talk about it. Has anyone seen this problem before? Is there anyway to change to a different lift system that is stronger? This is 16ft camper and it has the same lift system as a 10ft.
I must say this is the last Jayco product I will ever buy.

I don't know how much difference there is between your Jayco and mine, but I have a 2004 Qwest 12A. We were in some pretty high winds, in excess of 30 MPH during a storm one time and the roof swayed quite a bit, probably not as much as yours but it held up really well. The roofs on any pup will sway to a certain degree. I hope you find resolution to yours. Jayco makes a really good product, my parents and I have had them since 1982 and have never had any major problems.

Welcome to PUT!   We lived in Memphis for 4 years in the early 90's....love the BBQ, esp Corky's.

I had a 95 Jayco with a 12 foot roof and it too had sway, which it what you want in a windy place. I loved my Jayco and never had any problems with it. You could always place a 2x4 to hold it in place if you feel that it might fall on you. It will not fall if the door is in place. Are you sure that the roof is 16 ft, I thought the biggest Jayco made was 14. Hope things work out for you.

Hi Dave
This not a windy day type of sway this is don't go inside the camper type sway.
It may break the lift post type sway.

HI HersheyGirl
This is not a very common model. It is very large with tandom axles. The top measures 17' but Jayco calls it 16'.  They only made a few of them I have been told and now I now why. The sway is lot more than common.

The next time you down in this area let me know the BBQ is own me.

You might want to call around to another Jayco dealer and see what they say.  I took my Jayco and now my Palomino to a different dealer, one that is much closer and I really like them.  They have had no problem working on other brands.  Might want to call around and see if another place would work on your camper.  It sure does sound like you have a big problem on your hands that needs so be taken care of.  Good luck to you and your camper sounds like it is really cool.
