Has anyone tried these clear propane tanks?  A bit pricey but they look neat.

wow they are pretty cool but pricey

I saw these a couple months ago.  They do look cool, but I can't see paying that much for them.

I looked at them, but not sure how they would fair here in Northern Canada, what with the cold temps and all.

I'd be concerned with them cracking/splitting....?

The thing that struck me is that it rules out an important way to "fill" your tank - by exchanging it.

That isn't an issue with us, we always have refilled our own tanks.
It's the cost! Over $100 for a 20lb tank...OUCH. We have 3 tanks 2 on the camper and 1 for the stove. no thanks..if they ever came down to the $22 we paid for our last tank than I'd be all over those clear tanks.

When they first came on the market they were all imported and priced about $75-$80 and the literature said once they had a "plant" in the US to build them the price would drop. I don't know if they every started making them in the US but the price has been going up.

JMHO, but I assume they haven't come up with any improvements/automation to their manufacturing process and/or the demand hasn't jumped up to allow economy of scale in the manfacturing to lower the price.
After 5 years they are still in the "look at the new toy I paid a premium for" category.

Wooo Hooo!!!  ;)   Big Savings!  If you follow the Original Manufacturer's Website link, they sell the 20lb tank for $99.95.

Barbecues.com has them for $89.95 and a selection of colors.
