B/dates????

I have to admit........I never put my true birth-date on any public forum  or document. There is NO WAY that I would ever mutter my mother's maiden name and I protect my S/S # as best I can. I know people that have been devastated by identity theft.

I had one of the people in our Management Office arrested because we found out that he was selling the information from prospective tenant's rental applications on the black market. He was taking photo-copies of applications and selling them for $1,000-3,000 each. We suspected him because one of my new tenants (a lawyer) had proof positive that his information was taken from his rental application. I called the police and they set up a sting operation. They caught him red handed, walked into the office and slapped the guy in cuffs. It was great :-() .

I am very concerned about identity theft :yikes: . There are people out there that spend all of their time compiling identity information about people :compumad: . That is what some of the spyware is on most of our computers.

I have my B/date as 1/1 on this forum and when the B/day wishes started, I didn't know what to say. I know that people meant well and I didn't want to make them feel bad by saying, "It's not my B/day".

I'm just wondering how many people do the same as I did.

for this forum I gave my actual date but all other stuff I do I give fake dates I also give false phone numbers, but some sites are getting smarter. most take all 5's but some  need a valid area code then will accept all 5's .I had one site I actually had to put a real area code and prefix.


DH made a bet that he knew me soooo well I couldn't have a e-mail address and him not know it. well after a month he gave up looking.  I also have a myspace page that no one will find. I use this to keep tabs on what DS may be doing online

i use our time/temp phone number for sites that my number is not important for...it's a real number and i figure if a telemarketer tries to call they'll at least get the correct time lol
