Electric???

Can Anyone give me a little help I would like to install some electric in my camper. It has the opening for it,Where the plug should come out of the trailer. But it is a very base model and I would like to run at leats an outlet or two to plug into the shore line. I am not worried about 12 volt. anu ideas??? thanks for the help.

Not sure what type of PU you have. but the easiest thing to do is run an outdoor extension cord out though the mouse hole and plug into the shore power. then use a power strip inside the PU for your electrical connections.

Running a heavy power cord to a power strip is the simplest way to do it.  Does your trailer have ceiling lights, an electric water pump, or furnace?  If it does they are probably 12 volt.

I agree with the others.  If you want to wire something permanent, you are going to have to install a breaker box.  Just an extension cord with a power strip (one with a breaker) would probably do al you need.

Thanks! I was thinking about that. I was wondering what sort of plugs the shorlines at most campgrounds have I wanted to get what i need. Do they make different adapters for them. Do I need one of those RV electrical cords or can I get a heavy duty cord from Lowes or somewhere like that.I have a nice power strip that will work......Thanks for the help.

Most campgrounds with electrical hookups include standard 120V AC outlets.  If they don't, all you need is a simple adapter to convert from the Three-Way 30amp connector to a standard 120V outlet.  Like this one! .  Then you can plug in the HD extension cord everyone has recommended.

If you use an adapter like this, it is VITAL that your power strip have a breaker; the 30 amp breaker at the post will allow any 15-amp or 20-amp extension cord to melt without the breaker noticing.

I would run a 12-gauge extension cord. That way you could run a 1,500 watt heater on cool nights. A standard household extension cord is 14-gauge or even 16-gauge. That's too light in my opinion for anything other than lights. A 50 ft. 12-gauge cord would work just fine.

I found a 50' 12 ga. at Northern the other day for $ 23.   I think they had the price wrong, so being the kindhearted person that I am, I bought THREE!
