Roof "leak"...

Hi!

Picked up our Flagstaff 227 over the weekend.  After a long hard look, it seems 98% great.

Only problems:
1)One "popped" zipper - it will go together with the pull, but the teeth separate using light pressure.  No big deal - It'll wait til I can get back to the dealer for warranty work.

2)What I thought was a "leak" in the roof, but now I'm not quite sure what to call it.  In a fairly strong, windy rain - water started to drip from the bunk canvas support pole anchor (the small plate that braces the pole).

I figured there was a leak in the AC gasket or roof vent and the water was finding the low spot to exit... but it's actually simpler - though I'm not sure what to do about it:
It's just rainwater that blew up the canvas and hurdled the white plastic strip that acts as a curtain rod/canvas anchor.  I'm not sure if that makes sense, but think of the canvas as a ramp that ends under the roof - the water just blew up and over the end of that ramp.

It's just white plastic screwed into the raw underside of the roof - lots of gaps between the screws.
Should that be a watertight seam there?  If so, how?  I could put sealing foam in there, but would that be a bad idea?
Any thoughts would be very much appreciated!

If you're going in to have the zipper taken care of under warranty, I'd reccomend having them take care of this as well. It sounds like you have a legitimate complaint and they should make it good. I would be cautious about trying to use anything to seal it up because of the potential of voiding the warranty. If they aren't responsive then I would contact the manufacturer directly for advice. Be sure to point out any communication that you had with the dealer regarding this issue to avoid being told to contact the dealer. [My personal pet-peeve is going up the chain of command only to be told to start back at the bottom - as if I didn't already think of that...]

On this note, be aware that nothing is absolutely perfect. The family and I got caught in an awful storm like what you describe and there was some water blown in from. While I was concerned that water got in I wasn't terribly surprised that it did. I inspected everything and discovered that the winch door had opened in the wind (oops) and water had got in that route. I fail to believe that any tent trailer can be as watertight in a bad storm as a hard side trailer.
