Peeling decal lines on exterior....

My wife and I finally took the plunge and bought our first (used) pop up.  It is a 10 year old Jayco Jay series with the storage trunk in the front.  I took it into the RV place here locally to get a face lift, since it had been sitting in the lady's driveway unused for 2 years (divorce)- and she was wanting to get rid of it.  I am a bit shy to say it cost us $1,600 to get it up to speed (New awning needed, new AC shroud and gasket, inverter was fried, added 2nd propane tank, door had to be rebuilt ....etc...etc...etc...
It is looking pretty good now, I am going to use rubbing compound to take the dark oxidizing layer off the outside, then I am going to wax it all over, but my question is this....the Jayco model I have has vinyl decal detailing all down the sides (front to back) in the form of stripes. It was sharp in its pristine condition, but now (a decade later) the vinyl stripes are flaking off in tiny pieces along the edges and the overall effect is to make the pup look like a tired old thing.  How can I get the vinyl detailing off the sides?  I am probably going to paint them back on with masking tape and spray paint (same colors) to finish giving the pup a face lift....but the vinyl detailing is stuck on pretty good.
The RV guy said he dosent do that kind of thing, and after what I had to pay for the formal face lift, I am afraid to take it anywhere and try to have it done.
I am open to suggestions.....
Thanks in advance from Plano, Texas (Dallas)...

Thank you Wavery.  My wife had thought of a hot air blower for drying your hair.  I am looking forward to the project.

heat gun is your answer.  I used my heat gun and one of those painter's 7-in-1 tools to peel off my decals.  Once they were off, a little goo-gone and a lot of elbow grease got the adhesive off.  Good luck with the restriping.  Suggestion, pickup a roll of 1/4" painters tape from your local automotive store.  Use that as your guide lines and then put regular masking tape to fill in the gaps.  Regular masking or painters tape doesn't stick well enough along the edges so you'll get bleed through.  So use the tape designed for automotive masking to get your edges crisp & clean.

Thanks Jeremy, the repainting was my concern, years ago I had a pick up camper that I tried to to restripe and the edges were blurry...thanks for the automotive tape tip....do I just pick it up at Pep boys or autozone?

I'd look for an body shop supply company (there's usually one in every town). If you strike out there stop and talk to a local body shop. I'm sure they either sell you or give you a roll.

Once you have it removed I would consider new striping, not paint. There are tons of options and you could be very creative. I think paint would be a problem

I have the same problem with our starcraft.  i would love to resptripe, but i would like to keep the original look, with decals.

Do you think starcraft would carry the decals, or have a idea how to do it?

If the heat gun doesn't work, check with body shop again ask them for a wheel to remove pinstripe. It looks like the old gum erasers, but round and on a arbor for your drill. Then you can erase the stripe off. Sometimes old stickers and stripes can be brittle. Just don't stay in one spot too long or you'll wear through the paint.
