Hey all
New camping season has arrived. I cleaned out my pu and tested all the equipement for the new season..
Unfortuneately my propane appliances aren't working.
I can light the stove, but it lasts for a few seconds. I have a full tank and the fitting for the tank to the regulator are free of spiders and thier webs.
If I open the stove connection, there is a short burst of pressure at first then it dies right out. Each time I close the valve at the stove conector for at least 10 seconds, there is another short lived burst of pressure.

What I would like to know is: Can the regulator be faulty this soon? My pu is 2 years old. Is there an easy way to purge or adjust the regulator? There is no pinch in the propane line from front to back. All is fine.
Any suggestions folks?

My pu is a 2005 Coachman Clipper 106.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm inclined not to blame the regulator (not at first, anyway). Although you could have your propane dealer check it out - best just to tow the camper right to the dealer - L/P dealers have the equipment to check out the regulator in just a couple of minutes.  I'm more inclined to think it's the OPD valve in the propane tank, at leeast that's where I'd begin.  Shut the tank valve completely closed and then open it very slowly to "full bore". Try lighting the cook stove again. No work, close the tank valve again, then again re-open the valve slowly and this time tap on the neck of the propane tank, maybe using a ball peen hammer. Not real hard, just a few solid taps. Try to light the stove again. No work again, give your propane dealer a call and set-up a time to pull the camper over to his place and the dealer can check not only the tank but the regulator as well.

I, too, think it's the OPD valve. It thinks that there's a burst hose in your trailer when all you are doing is using an appliance. Can you borrow another propane tank? Hook up to the borrowed tank and see if problem is solved. If so, head to the nearest place that has a propane tank exchange AND lazy or unknowledgable employees and switch it out.

I actually have 2 tanks on the pu.
One was empty from last year. I had it filled and put it back on as the main. Only 1 tank is actually hooked to the propane system The second I use for the outdoor area. Coleman stoves, distribution tree and light.
I will try swithcing them over to see if there is any difference.
Thanks again for the help folks.

Make sure everything is turned off when you open the valve on the tank.  If you have anything turned on, the tank will think there is a leak.:)

Once again, thanks for all the help.
My propane problem was the opd valve. By tapping it and ever so slowly turning it on, the propane appliances are now working.
Live and learn.
Thanks again folks!
