We bought our first PUP used a few weeks ago and took it out for the first time this past weekend.
I've already had the tail land side marker lights rewired to get them to work. Now My exterior and interior plug don't work as well as the lights on the inside of the pup. I'm about ready to get rid of this thing. At $95 an hour labor rate I'm not sure I can afford to keep getting things fixed.

If anyone knows anything about the '94 Dutchman electrical I'd appreciate any and all help.

Sorry to hear about things not going well.  Maybe it is just a fuse or something?  I dunno...  Do any of the interior elctrical items work at all?  Lights and so on?

I am new to PUP's and can feel your pain.  I wanted to start cheap and ya end up having to repair this and repair that..  adds up a bit.

Hope ya get some help, these folks are pretty good and do a great job explaining things out to the lamen (like me)

Know nothing about Dutchman popups ... but let me say that electrical problems can be a bear on ANY CAMPER, especiall if there's a little age and a little running up and down the highways that just might jar some connections loose. My Starcraft has a saftey turn-off switch located in the ceiling of the camper, just above sink area which is located in the left front (driver's side) of the camper. The funcion of this swtich is when lowering and closing up the camper it will cut the electrical connection to the overhead interior lights so the lights will not be on in the closed position. Obviously, those lights could get hot and cause a fire.

These overhead safety switches have been known to stick in the "off position.  You might want to locate that switch and see if the "shut off" plunger is not stuck in the closed position. That switch can be replaced quite easily if need be and is not all that expensive ... why, even I could install it!

Sorry about the problems you are having with your trailer.  I hope you can find someone that knows the electrical system.:)

I had a '99 Dutchmen 801.  Simple systems, but may be much simpler than what you have.  But...

Travel or marker lights, for lack of a better description, are on a completely different circuit from the "Convenience," or interior, lights.

What is not working?  110V or 12V, or both?

Connect the PUP to a 110V source and plug a houselhold lamp into one of the plugs and if it works, 110V is good.  If just 12V not working, I would start with fuses at the converter.  Look at them and if any are open-it's obvious-replace and see if things work.  If they are all good, and stay good upon application of current, check the "sink switch."   That would be the switch at the galley, that is pressed when the sink is swung over to the operating position.  If this switch is inoperable (doesn't close) or is gunked up, the 12V interior systems will not work (except for the propane detector).

HTH.

Clear as mud???

I think I got it.
Thankfully my dad is a retired electrician from Chevron and USMC. He's coming into town this weekend to help out. When it comes to electricity I'm rather clueless.

Use this opportunity to learn all you can. As you said, $95 per hour for service hurts a lot. Fortunately, the systems in these campers are relatively easy to learn about and repair yourself in most cases. Turn it into a fun hobby. You'll find great satisfaction in fixing things yourself and saving money at the same time. Keeping asking here when you're unclear about things. Most of us like to help, and some of the folks here actually do know what they're talking about.
