Hay all
I thought of a few more questions.

If you use city water do you need to do the water bleach solution to purify the system? Or is flushing the system with fresh water enough?

My awning bag has a rip where it connects to the camper and water keeps getting in there. It is not just the bag that is riped but some of the plastic cord that attaches the bag to the c-channel on the camper is also ripped. It would be fine if I wanted to be a mold farmer, but those spots don't look so cool when I have my awning out at the campground.

Do you have any recommendation on how to fix / replace the bag? (Cheaper is better)

Any recommendations on how to clean the awning?

Thanks again for all your input.

This site is a great wealth of information for us newbies,

Yes you need to sanitize the water system in the camper, even if you are using "city" water.  As for the rip in your awning bag, take it to a car upholstery shop and they should be able to fix it.:)

The mold you're experiencing on your awning can also grow in a water tank that's sitting unused for a while; hence, the need to sanitize.  It's very easy to do.

Our awning bag was ripping at the same place.  I called several upholstery shops, and no one wanted to mess with this small job.  I called a small independent guy, and he fixed what had come loose and reinforced the rest of it.  I've also gone to a big name (in this area) auto upholstery shop (many of you have seen their work on American Hot Rod) with my daughter's softball glove and they've altered it for me.  Just dpeneds how nice they are.  Just give them a call and see what happens.
