I have a 2003 Flagstaff 206LTD folding camper.  I recently re-installed the deep cycle battery back in the pop-up in preparation for the camping season.  I have a white wire and a black wire that connect to the battery terminals.  I could not remember which color belonged to positive and which to negative.  I went ahead and connected black to negative and white to positive and left it that way.  I have a feeling that I messed up.  I have not opened up the trailer to check it.  I disconnected the battery.  Before I reconnect I want to make certain I have the connections correct.  Is white positve & black negative?

From everything I've read. I would say you are correct. White is Pos. +

On the Coleman/Fleetwood camper the black is positive and has a small circuit breaker built in.  The white is the negative wire.  Call or email Flagstaff and ask them to make sure.  If you have a circuit breaker on one of the wires, that is the positive.  If you have the wires backward you will blow a fuse.:)

White is NEG and black is POS......absolutely certain....

Here's a tip I use for any kind of 'connection' I have to re-assemble - from stereo cords, to computer cables, to batteries....

Get yourself a couple of rolls of colored electrical tape - I bought 5 small rolls of electrical tape in one package  - Green, yellow, orange, red & blue - or, in your case, you could use white bandage tape and black electrical tape -

Anyway, you put a tiny piece of electrical tape on or near the outlet on the stereo (for example) and a piece of the same color on the cord of the corresponding plug.  You can make the 'tag' long enough to write on if need be - 'Jon's Stereo'   'gateway', or 'Sony Radio'.

I have also used colored nail polish to mark matching things in a similar way.

Just put a piece of white tape on the positive side of the battery, and a piece of black tape on the neg side - then you just have to match the colors of the wires!

I don't think you'll want to do that........It's BLACK Positive and WHITE negative. :D

But we get the point :p

Just put an ohm meter between one of the cables and the trailer frame. The one that reads 0 ohms is ground (negative).

BTW........ Mine are not white and black

ScouterMom

Ah.... Well......   :o

that's what happens when I post stuff at quarter to midnight after working on the camper all weekend...... ;)

It's a good thing campers are a pretty understanding bunch!

Likewise I'm sure.

I need more coffee before I post something technical.  :morning:

There's an electrician's rhyme to help you remember:

'Black is hot, white is not, green is ground - the whole world round.'

Since the trailer is a 12Volt, negative ground system, Black should connect to the positive, white to the negative.
