Has anyone moved there pop up with it open to another campsite.I was at bahia honda state park this weekend when i saw a couple moving there pop up with it open to another campsite. Bad thing was they still had the rear stablizers down.

I did see someone move an open PU in Michigan at Sleeping Bear National Lake Shore.  The sad thing was they didn't go slow.  The top was swaying all over the place. They flew out of the campground.  I am guessing they set up on a site that was reserved and had to move.

We moved our opened PU from one side of the CG to the other. No problems. However, I did collapse the bunk-ends and slide the bunks in part way.

We have had the top sway much more violently in a wind-storm for hours at a time. The move only took 15 minutes. :sombraro:

We went camping with some friends and the campground separated us so far apart that we couldn't see eachother so the kids couldn't play with eachother.  I raised heck and then some so they allowed us to move our site to right behind our friends.  In order to do this, we pushed in the beds and lowered the roof most of the way.  DH hitched up the PUP and pulled it to our new site.  We completed popping up and the weekend went well from then on.

I've only seen people move a PUP while open at the TRAILER RACES!  :p

But the whole point of that WAS to demolish them!

While it's possible to DO it, I sure wouldn't want to - think of how much strain that is on the cable sytem (or whatever kind of lift system different campers have), and the frame -  I'd think it would a major SPUT!  :yikes:

I've spent enough time repairing mine, that I wouldn't punish my poor PUP that way... someone might turn me in for cruelty to PUP's?  :p

I did it once, years ago, with my parents' popup, but without parents present. I was about 18 years old, and my girlfriend and her family borrowed the popup for a trip. We were put in the wrong campsite at the campground, and when the rightful owners of that site arrived, they insisted we move. We slid the beds in at least part way, and moved.

I'm not sure if that camper ever got used again after that trip, but I doubt it hurt the camper. It was an old Coleman Brandywine. I think my parents were done camping at that time and simply hadn't sold the camper.

Ever been to Sleeping Bear National Lake Shore????:D

Actually, we used to move my Dad's Starcraft around the yard all the time with it set up.  'Course it didn't have bunkends, so it was just a matter of making sure the stabilizers were up, picking up the tongue and putting it where we wanted it.

And my parent was there.  It was usually his idea.

Wouldn't (couldn't) do it now.  The tongue on the Niagara weighs almost as much as that old Starcraft.  And I ain't quite so young and cocky anymore.
