OC Campers

Glen-You are most definately welcome.  This will give you the chance to try true boondocking in the company of others.;) .

Randy and the boys are currently planning on leaving Wednesday with the truck, camper and dirtbikes.  Kendra and I will be heading out VERY early Friday morning because Kendra has to work Thursday.  We are renting a motorhome but Randy's brother is picking it up in Canyon Country and driving it out.  He will also be bringing all the food and water too.   We are planning on emptying out the camper and the front trunk to get all the excess weight out of it.    We shouldn't have too much additional weight.  Randy is planning on stopping at a rest area and filling up the water tank right before he hits the desert (near China Lake/Olancha).

Here's an idea Glen.  I know this could be costly being a contract worker but what about you convoying to Mojave with Randy on Wednesday and then if Kelly can get Friday off she can ride up with Kendra and me in the car.  Then she could ride home with you.  Unfortunately, we are planning on heading home on  Monday.  If you stll want to camp a little while longer you could stop in Bridgeport or Mammoth or even Lake Tahoe and camp another night on the way home up Hwy 395.  Or you could just head home Monday with us.  Randy and I talked about how far it is for just a weekend but it is only once a year.(at least that is how we are justifying the cost and time):)

BTW--I bought a case of Monster and will bring all the fixins for Cactus Coolers :! f that will entice you into coming.   At least you don't have to worry about getting a spot here.:D :#

Very cool.  I think the kids look so cute in their riding gear.

Randy will be out there staking out our spot on Wednesday.  He will  put out an orange flag right by the turn-off so it will be easier to spot.

Anything Randy can do to mark out the turns would be great!
We will be leaving around 5:30 from Lancaster, so I guess we will be there around 6:30 or 7:00 ish.  We are driving two trucks, one pulling the travel trailer and the other pulling the quads. We went looking at Toy Haulers last weekend and whew! The one we liked was in the $37,000.00 range.  So it will have to wait  awhile.

Thanks Dave. But it's already starting...It looks like I will have to tow the TT out on Thursday night, then tow the quads out on Friday night due to the temporary loss of the second truck I had planned on using to tow the quads with. Which means, on Monday I will have to tow the quads home, then go back for the TT. It's only 45 min-1 hour away with virtually no traffic, but it will still suck. A Toy Hauler would be so awesome right about now.

Man 2 trips out, that sucks.  Fortunately, Randy will be there on Wednesday so you can either leave the quads or the trailer and he can keep an eye on them.   I wish we could help you out but we are towing the tent trailer and carrying the 3 dirt bikes in the bed of the truck.

Brian --

My friends have an awesome hybrid toy hauler.  It's very, very nice inside.  Not like the old toy haulers that were pretty rough inside.  They camped with us in Temecula last Halloween.  They had the same problem with taking a motorhome plus a separate truck for the "toys."  They love it.

How about renting a toy hauler for the weekend, or is it too late to find one?

Believe me Trina, I have thought of, or I'm thinking of everything I can. I think it's too close to the weekend at this point.  Plus we have everything we use for camping in the TT.

 Brian,
How about a uhaul truck rental? Or a big  moving van? Then you take more crap out to the desert. Who cares how the quads get there, but this way you can still have two trucks to get your stuff out to the desert. I have faith that they would have what you could use, even at this late date.

Thanks for all the suggestions but I have it figured out.  It was just easier to go buy a Toy Hauler.   Just Kidding!   I'm using a company truck to haul the two big quad and put Ashlee's in the Tundra.

We're back!!! What an AWESOME weekend! We had a ball. Met a bunch of new people, hooked up with the OCCampers clan. Thanks alot Randy & Jacqui for inviting us. Can't wait till next year. We came out of it without any broken bones or anything. The story of the weekend happened yesterday. Kristi, Ashlee and I went on a ride, on our way back, I was leading, Ashlee was behind me, then Kristi. Apparently I didn't see a 4' Rattlesnake stretched accross half the road, when I went by, I must have scared it to the point of coiling up, so when Ashlee went by it struck at her but missed. Ashlee didn't even know this happened because she didn't see the snake either, but Kristi saw the whole thing happen right in front of her. The $299.00 Champion generator we bought worked flawlessly. We ran the air & watched movies when it was hot, and were outside all the other times. I have posted pics in my Viking28 Webshots under 2007 Memorial Day. Oh, and Dee, check out how we started the fire.

Thanks again for a wonderful weekend!
