Hello,

I have been so busy in the general area of this site, until now I had not scrolled down.  We, me, my wife and 3 kids and the dog are taking our '07 Yuma on its "official" maiden voyage this weekend (Sun to Wed) to Inks Lake.  There is a threat of rain all weekend long, but we're going anyway!  Last time we went camping here, Spring break, we tent camped with a brand new tent and a huge thunderstorm rolled thru and all our gear in the tent got soaked.  Poor quality on this Coleman tent. Anyway, that was the last time weather was going to ruin our plans and here we are.  Happy Memorial Day Weekend.  Remember the troops!

Any day camping is better than a day at work, if it wasnt for those darn chores at the house, I would be camping all the time!  (smile).   We just got back from a week up in Southeast Missouri at the Wappepello Lake near Poplar Bluff, we had a good time.  I think Branson may be on the horizon.  I have heard good things about Rusk Texas and Dinasour Park.  We have kids so have to keep that in focus when we pick a spot.  May be getting a canoe soon too.....Glad to hear things are going great.

All is good. Inks Lake was nice. The weather had scared away alot of holiday campers, so the park was not too crowded.  The PUP performed excellent and even held up to a very strong Texas thunderstorm on our final night.  The whole family had a good experience. We are all looking forward to our next journey up to the DallasFW area in a couple weeks. My son is going to camp and we are going to take him there, any suggestions on campgrounds?

In the Ft. Worth area Benbrook lake has some nice parks:  Lake Benbrook

Between Dallas and Fort Worth, Cedar Hill State Park lies on Joe Pool Lake: Cedar Hill State Park

We have stayed at Cedar Hill and really liked it.  It is a large park and has a variety of types of sites.  Some very open, others kinda secluded, etc.  The swimming beach is nice too.  Benbrook is a lot more open and the bathrooms were clean but very, very, very, old.

Those are the two that I have actually looked at and liked both.  There are several 'parking lot' camps too that can be easily found on the web.  I believe Lake Grapevine has some parks but I have not checked into those.

Good luck and let me know if you need any more info.

thank's for your suggestions.  We are leaning towards the Joe Pool lake campgrounds, as they are closer to where we need to drop off our son for camp.
