Hi All

It's that time again to get the camper out.

Just wandering about storage ideas while camping. Last year we found in our 8ft popup that there was not much room for our clothes and towels and stuff while camping, These only one cupboard with countertop and then the dinette. So we seemed always to be moving suite cases and bags from the beds at night onto the countertop and back in the morning.

I saw somewhere online some hanging storage that hung from the roof of the camper, made of what looked like canvas, with pockets big enough for clothes and towels. Has any seen these and know where to get them, and or what type of solution have you come up with for storage.

I use one of those plastice drawer storage units available at Walmart, fairly large, with 3 drawers. Top gets misc. items (games, table cloths, utensils). The middle fits all my dishes and the bottom holds all the pots and pans. For travel I lay it down on the back side and at the camp site I carry it outside and put it under the awning next to the cooking station. Since we eat outside it saves a lot of running in and out.

We also use the plastic drawers. We load them with our clothes at home. Haul them in the TV, then put them in place in the PU when we get to the campsite. See the pics in my Webshots link at the bottom of this page. I think its in the album called "Drawer Mod".

We use plastic bins and keep them on a small table next to the PU.  In there is a lot of stuff we use like paper plates and towels and such.  Each one of us has a bag/suitcase with clothes which we keep in the TV.  The first trip I took all the suitcases into the PU and it was crazy!

The cloth / canvas hanging shelves/ storage could be closet organizers - they hang from a clost rod to hold shoes, sweaters, all kinds of stuff.

they would work great in a PUP if you have a place to hang them from the roof.  you could also use an actual zippered hanging 'closet' if you have room.  One way to hang them might be to use one of those tension shower rods instead of permanently mounting them to your camper roof.

you could also use these for shelves -

easy to put together and take apart for sweatshirts, towels, shoes, etc.

What you're probably thinking of is those cloth "shelves". I have considered buying one of these myself and hanging it from maybe the little built in clothes hanger that comes in the coleman campers. They would be easy to store too when not in use. You can find these anywhere; I've seen them at Walmart for around $12 I think. I think they would be a great places to put folded clothes and towels, etc. The plastice untis are nice too but take up a lot of room. I bought one extra large sterilite drawer that fits perfectly on top of our stove inside, which we never use. I use it for bread, chips, snacks, etc. and it is flat on the top just like the stove to put more things on.
