I recently purchased a 96 Coleman Key West PU - so I am new to rv's - it does not have a battery or converter installed. How easy or difficult is it to add these items? I am not sure how often I would be camping in areas without electricity so it may not be a big issue but if it is not to bad to add - I think I'd rather add it.

thanks in advance!

We too have a Keywest.  Our is a 1997.  It was new to us late last summer and we have had a blast with it.

The Keywest seems to have been a pretty well equipped unit in 97.  The only thing we don't have today is AC.  This may be a dumb question, but are you sure you don't have a converter?  It would be under your rear dinette seat.  In that seat, you should see the shore power cord.  The inside end of the cord attachs to the converter.

Although a battery is probably a good idea, we owned a Coleman Chesapeake for 12 years ... didn't have a battery and only camped a few times without electricity. Those times we relied on our tent camping background and used the Coleman-fuel lantern for light at night, the cooler with ice for refrigeration and otherwise just did without power. Most campgrounds have washhouses with power for hair appliances, shavers, etc. Our new Santa Fe came with a battery so we don't have to rough it ever now I guess (but we never minded).
