Well, we had a big storm here yesterday late afternoon, with enough hail to shovel.  Other than the flowers and trees about being stripped of their leaves everything looked fine, well, untill I looked at the PUP and it's roof looks like a "ballpeen hammer" murderer (Axe Murderer) went at it. It has hundreds of fairly deep dents - so now what?  It's insured, but short of replacing the top(and I am sure the top would be of a newer style) which wouldn't be cost effective on a 78 what other alternatives are there?  After all that work restoring it!!!

PS: called and a top would be $1561 including shipping plus another $300 to install it and it would be a newer style and white.

Nice looking PU for its age. I have had similar damage done to my old PU with my son playing basket ball next to the PU. oh well !!! as long as the roof was not punctured. I would leave it alone. Who knows what mother nature will do in the future !!

I concur. Our pup has a few dings in the roof that look like hail damage with a previous owner. But as long as it doesn't leak, I would leave it be. For that amount of money, I could live with the dings.

Ours has large dings all over the top from a hailstorm.  We haven't had any problems so far with it.  We just bought it a few months back but I know the former owner and he didn't have any problems either.

Mine has hail damage on the top - looks like an angry horde of ball peen hammers attacked..

Is that the Kansas version of Killer Bees?

My old PU had hail damage on the roof.  It didn't leak so I didn't worry about it.  If it really bothers you, you can fill in the dents and then paint the whole roof. :)

Sorry to hear about the damage especially after that great restoration job.
As mentioned by others, if the roof isn't pierced, I would leave it.
