My husband and I are considering purchasing a Jayco 1208 PU from a friend of a friend.  We don't know what year it is but it appears to be 10-15 years old. It has some issues-torn canvas and it is very, very musty and damp.  However, it also has new tires and wiring.  Can anyone give me any info on this PU?  They are asking $1000.  We have a Toyota 4 Runner to tow it. Thanks in advance for any info.

I have a 1994 1207 similar to yours.  We find that it is really big when opened up, We really like it.

The only problem I have with mine was the low ground clearance so I put a 3" lift on it and had no problems with the trailer dragging yet.

we paid 5000 cnd for ours.  You can get canvas for them for about 1000 bucks or so.

Price sounds fair to me.

2 years ago we bought this 1995 Jayco 1006 for $1200.  Same as yours - canvas a little ripped, some screening torn but repaired.  It's a little musty too but when you open it up and air it out it's fine in a short matter of time.

We think it's fine for our 1st pop-up, we wouldn't have spent more money on one being our first.

I tow it with a '95 Pathfinder. It's a little sluggish but it gets the job done.

[We have a Jayco and it is very well built. No real problems that I can think of.Just do your homework and go over it well.Ask them to show you how everything works and tell you what is not working. This way you know what you are getting into.Good luck.

I have a 1994 Jayco PU - not sure what the model is (and it's in storage at the lake right now about 50 miles away).

I think it's similar to the 1208 - I found a picture of one on the 'net and it looks pretty similar.

I have a 1995 4Runner V6 that I tow it with.  It's a little sluggish on the acceleration, and you have to give yourself PLENTY of room to stop, but it tows fine.  I towed the trailer > 200 miles in one weekend (I camp within 50 miles usually), and the 4Runner did fine.
