Anyone been? This park keeps making the short list for next year's week long camping trip. Anyone have any thoughts?

It is awesome.  Little bit pricey BUT with the few CG's I've been to this is by far the nicest.
LOTS to do and you have free transportation to anywhere inside Disney property (IE Downtown Disney, all the parks, hotels/resorts, etc)  You can fish, boat, bike, golf cart, they have night time movies for the kids, carriage rides, horseback riding, petting zoo...

THe only thing I can think of that I did not like was the late check in time.  If memory serves you can't check in until 1 PM.  So you blow half a day just waiting.

We went last month.  It was very nice.  Very clean.  I would reccommend it.  Bring bikes or reserve (in advance becase they run out) a golf cart at the campground.  The cart was a blast.  The kids loved it.

There was a light parade on the lake at night and you can watch fireworks from the beach.  I agree it is a bit expensive especially if you plan to eat there.  The food was very good though.

Hey, I am going in October.

It has been a long time since I was down there.  How long does it usually take to walk from the sites to the transportation areas?  Being that we have two little ones I really don't want to have to bike each way ever day if I can help it.

Any other suggestions?

I believe there are bus stops at the entrance to each 'section' of the campground.   It was about a 30 second walk to the closest bus stop from us. It seems they put the pop-ups together in 1 section.

Help!!!!

We are trying to get into Ft Wilderness for the week between Christmas & New Years.  We called and there is no availability through AAA, Disney Vacation Club (we are members), online through Disney, we are looking to see if anyone has it booked and is cancelling.  Help us!!

Thanks, I appreciate the info.  We are counting down and can't wait.

We live in South Florida so Fort Wilderness is just 3 hours away. It is by far the cleanest camp ground we have ever seen. The bathrooms are very clean and very nice. Transportation is at the entrance of each camping loop, worst case a 1-2 minuite walk. Bikes are gare great to have. There are wild turkeys, lots of rabbits, squirls, and lots of beautiful birds all over the camp grounds. In Disney style durring buggy season they spray every morning around 5am so don't expect to see many pesky mosquitos.

Things to do:
Evening outdoor movie and sing along - horse drawn carriage ride (late group ride is about 45 minuites long they take you down by the water and you get to see the fireworks - pools are great - dinner buffet is very good but pricy go hungry or it wont be worth it

If you have any more questions feel free to ask. Make your resorvations early they fill up fast. Feel free to send direct email to progc@bellsouth.net if you need any additional information.

WE LOVE FORT WILDERNESS

We have visited Fort Wilderness every Summer when our sons were out of school..  We brought our bikes and all the camping stuff.  We actually paid for our "Coleman Hilton" by staying at the Disney Campground(we stayed 2 weeks every year...done everything Disney had to offer) in the savings the campgrounds offer versus the prices of the resort rooms, plus we were just as "guesty" as the resort people in access to Disney.  We recommend Fort Wilderness greatly...cleanest campground we ever visited.
