Well, I didn't think anyone would see me ...

I wanted to knock on doors, but being that it was just plain ol' nasty outside & the fog wasn't getting any better, I headed out.  What can I say?  Sorry?  I was about ready to park the car & walk on the way up, the fog was so bad.  But on the way home it cleared just after that 5100' summit -- rained the whole way down the hill, though.  Much as I like being out in the weather, it just wouldn't have been fun, thinking of the possibility of going up or down that hill in that "soup".

From what I saw the CG is great.  What about a Memorial Day trip up there?  I bet we could get reservations!

See you in October!

Chez Way

We were the last of the ScCampers to pull out of the campground at 2:20 this afternoon (check out was at 2:00 and we just don't know how to check out on time)!  We had a great time in spite of the rain but it sure would have been nice if it didn't rain almost 24 hours straight!  The campfire on Friday was great fun (thanks again, Dee!) and welcome to ScCampers, Michael...we love your teardrop trailer.  Todd and Kevin, we absolutely love your new rig and all of its' accoutrements!  I think you guys should start a new reality tv show..."Pimp My RV". :D  We definitely are interested in going back to Dogwood perhaps in the summer.  August would be fine and we were also talking about an end of the school year trip in June.  I hope Ashlee and Kristi are both feeling better soon.  See you guys in October.

Glad everyone had a good time in Dogwood and count us in for the Rally Jim and I love that campground.... last weekend just wasn't good for us.....We stayed home and froze from the mountain cold winds here in Apple Valley......Laura new TV what did you buy?  Bet it made mountain driving lots better.........!!!!
Loved the pic's........Brings back so many childhood memories....

I got a "new" 2004 Explorer V8.  It's pretty, and it goes fast!  I made the drive up the hill just to see what it would be like to go up with a trailer in tow.  While the grade is steady, I've done worse & think that this new car will be able to handle it much easier than the old car.

Nothing makes fog easier, though!  What a nightmare!

yep, another raining rally...what a surprise.  We made the best of it, only as SCCampers have become accustomed to.
it was very nice meeting Oreo57, and sure hope you join us again soon, hopefully sans the rain.  Todd, Kevin...I have trailer envy. Harasol, we hope to see Michael join us again.  Sick bay attendees: Kristi, Ashlee and Kevin, hope ya feel better.  Laura, sorry we missed seeing your new addition, but we will see it soon.
I'm glad most of you would like to go back to Dogwood...it was nice to mtn. camp again. The last time I camped there w/ ChezWay was over 10 years ago, before we had RVs.  It's a beautiful place and we should make it a routine!

See ya in Spooky October.....(howl......)

Hello oreo57,

I didn't attend this rally but hope to meet you guys soon!

When looking at your pictures I immediately recognized site number 21 at Dogwood!  That's the campsite we always reserve whenever we stay there.  It's a huge private site!

The last time we stayed there last April clouds were rolling up the face of the mountain all weekend.  Site number 21 was in a thick windy and wet fog the whole time.  If you walked or rode to the nearest restroom it was bright, sunny, and dry!!  The strangest thing ever! :D

SURFcampers

We stayed through Tuesday afternoon. Naturally, the weather cleared late Sunday afternoon and Monday & Tuesday were beautiful. It was great to see everybody again and we're looking forward to Halloween.

So how was the hill?  Quite a ride huh?

Part of the 18 was closed for rock slides.  We were detoured onto a road that was even worse for the downhill ride.  I'm glad that part of it is over.

griffsmom

Ugh, I would have hated that. I was nervous enough just going down the short stretch of single-lane w/o a rockslide!!  Glad you guys got home safely!!!
