What type of weight distribution hitch do you use?

I am used to the traditional kind with 2 arms, but there is a newer style made just for PUPs that is a single arm style. Our dealer said he

I have a Reese Single Bar WDH.  We only used it the 1 time prior to getting the Armada.  It's far easier to use than the mini-350 and other dual spring types of WDH.  I have not idea why anyone would see it as not working.  Mine handles higher tongue weight than the mini-350.  If I was going to get another WDH, I would definately get the single bar again.

Keep in mind that the dual spring WDH also acts as an anti sway device.

I think the guy who told me to stay away from them is old school and maybe prejudice to newer things like this, that was my impression. I

I have a Reese Mini-350 (two arm) WDH.  It has limited friction sway control built-in.  If I had it to do over, I'd use the Mini-400 single-arm and a sway bar, but they didn't exist back then.

I like the 350, but there are times I wish I had just a bit more sway control.  For that, a sway bar would be much more effective.

Quote from: harleywolfI am just tired of waiting on the dealer, when I can get it cheaper going directly to Draw-tite and install it myself. It does seem to me that a double bar system would be overkill for a PUP.

The Mini-350 double-bar system isn't overkill; it is actually less capable (from a WDH pointof view) that  the single-bar system.

Again, I'd go for the single if I had a do-over.

And if you go looking at the Draw Tite equivalent of the Reese Single bar, you can definately do it yourself.  It's a matter of cranking down a couple bolts, no drilling at all.  There's a nut on the end of a J shaped rod that actually holds the one side to the frame.

I've heard that the Reese single bar has been discontinued.

I believe that Reese is now a Draw-Tite company (or vice-versa), so the Draw-tite probably is the Resse single-bar WDH.

But...this is an old memory issue here, so I could have this all screwed up.

You're correct Austin. Drawtite and Reese are divisions of the same company and have been for at least 15 years. I know it's been that long because we got a sway control in an unopened Drawtite box with Reese stickers on the bar and Reese instructions that long ago...LOL Must of been packed after a "good" lunch or a bad Monday morning after.

Actually yes, what I found was that the Reese and the Draw-Tite single bar hitches are exactly the same
