We're leaving Flying Flags tomorrow and should be there around 1. Laura is here next to us and will be leaving at the same time we are. Hope Kim and Richard can make it.

We're planning on coming and I'm hauling the LONG LONG trailer.   I've only pulled the trailer 1x on our way to Yosemite and that was with no traffic and nothing really to worry about.   We will be going with our friends so they will be looking out for me also.

Richard will be basically laying low this weekend so no Hearst Castle for us.  Not sure about the waterpark yet.

We're planning on leaving around around 9:30AM so hopefully, we'll get there around 3 or so.  We may also cut our trip short and leave on Sunday instead of Monday.

Wish us luck!

I have most of the trailer packed, just finished laundry and have to pack our clothes. Randy is still in Portland. His flight gets in at 11pm (which means he will get home at midnite. I tried to get him to let me pull the new trailer (leaving tonite when he gets it hitched up) while he sleeps in the car and all I got was silence. Hmm. I guess that is a NO. Who knows what time we will get there tomorrow. :(

It's bad enough that I am stuck in Portland, she now has to pressure me about leaving in the middle of the night! I see no point in driving all night so we can get there in the morning and then wait all day to check in.

She's sucking the life out of me!

That's because we are all busy packing, trying to squeeze food for 8 people for 5 days in the fridge, making sure we have enough food, snacks, drinks for everyone. Making sure we have enough adult bevrages. Double checking the kids who packed their own clothes, that they have packed enough of the right clothes, no need for 4 pairs of jeans and no swim suits!!

Hope to leave around 9:00 tomorrow morning. DD has a dentist appointment at 8:15am, to check on the progress of having her wisdom teeth taken out last week, so once that is over, we can hit the road, and should get there around 1:00pm.
Got to fillup with gas first, luckly the price has dropped 5 cents a gallon since yesterday, and with a 75 gallon tank, that will help a bit.

Wow! Congratulations on your cool RV!  Camping/packing must have gotten a lot easier for the Quigs.  See you at Lopez...

now THAT's funny!!!  Sorry Randy but I would've towed that thing right outta there..why wait to camp tomorrow when you can go today :p

well while this whole thing sucks, something good has come out of it. I think Dan has figured out that I really don't sit on the couch all day.. and that the plan is, there is no plan, no matter how well you schedule your day it's going to change. and it sucks the life outta ya..

I will however say I am VERY proud of Dan on how he's been handling everything, getting kids were they have to be, making sure they are fed and taking care of me, He is definately frazzled... no that I'm home and he doesn't have to go back and forth from the hospital will help.  He deservess a big pat on the back....

I did a search of this thread for potluck.  don't know if it is late for me or what but it did not give me what I was looking for.  Is there going to be a dinner potluck Fri or Sat?
We are trying to plan our menu and want to know what to bring if potluck is on.  Sorry most people will prob be on the road but needed to ask.

Thanks, John

potluck will be sat. morning and sat. nite.. besides a dish to share you need to bring your own plates/utensils

what kind of dishes do people bring to bkfst or dnnr?

OMG!! pretty much anything..some will bring donuts to full blown breakfast cassoroles, some will scramble a doz eggs with sausage..pretty much anything goes.  for breakfast I usually do breakfast burritos, but I have brought cereal & milk, to a big pile of bacon..Just know on the big potlucks like this when they set a time they mean it...snooze ya looze

for breakfast you can never go wrong with a big pile of bacon or sausage..just thinking of something eazy smeazy for your first potluck with the group.

dinner pretty much the same thing you can buy a Big tub of tater salad , you could make sloppy joes, spaghetti, I don't know what you cook.

several people like to do the Dutch oven cooking and make some really yummy stuff as it's a camping thing to do..me I do what's easy, no dishes and even what I can cook at home and heat later. to me I can cook and do dishes at home :p

This group a great group of people and you will see they will welcome you in..you will not be judged on "how elaborate" your potluck dish is...
we all like to relax, let the kids hang out with their friends and have a good time

you have no Idea how it's killing me not to be there..If it were closer...I can't drive a car but I can drive in a car..Just can't convince Hubby that a 3 1/2 drive is ok.

I was also told no Blue Bombers while on these meds :(

have fun tell everyone hi for me

Ok I will be the first to say we made it home.  We had a great time, despite the yellow jackets, and Camerons wipeout.  We made it home in 4.5 hours.  Not a bad trip either way.  I will post pics when I get a chance.

I missed DEE!  I was looking for sloppy Joes at teh pot luck, and realized they weren't gonna be there......  It just wasn't quite the same without her...

Well, I was first out -- again.  ;)

I was supposed to stay until tomorrow, but after last night's "serenade" by my new next-door neighbor at 3:30 & his pot smoking, I decided that there were too many folks in our neck of the woods leaving to stick it out by myself.  That, and the increasing number of yellowjacket stings.  So, true to form, I got up, packed, and high-tailed it out of there.

Lopez is a delightful place.  I'd love to go back, maybe when it's bit cooler (hoping that the bee thing would be better).  Great pot-lucks, great campfire, and a great Clive Cussler book!

See some of you over Labor Day!

JohnandLeann

HI all,
We had a great time meeting so many of the sccampers.  You are all a great bunch of people with the love of camping and the great outdoors in common.
Thank you for making Leann and myself feel so welcome.  We want to try another rally sometime soon.
Speaking of yellow jackets, one went up my shorts leg and bit me on the front of my thigh. OUCH!!!
I had forgotten about the jacket situation at Lopez.  Early spring or late fall after a good frost would surely help that problem.
We made it out at noon like were supposed to, imagine that!!  We never get out on time!!

Thank you all again for the warm welcome,

John and Leann

ps we need to change our screen name to something more snappy don't we?
