this pu already had a hot water (small) heater, and there is a tank on board.
thanks to all

I think that it is funny that you never see "Foot Pumps" in a PU. I had one on my sailboat to use while on long ocean passages. They are great water savers because you use your foot to pump exactly as much water that you need (hands free) and the water stops, when your foot stops. They are a lot easier to use than a hand pump because you can't wash 2 hands when one is needed to pump the water.

When using an electric pump to wash your hands, the water keeps running until you finish washing and take your hand to shut off the water. That usually means getting water all over the counter. You don't get all that with a foot pump. I have been thinking of installing one on out PU. It would cut your water usage in half.

You just cut a hole in the cabinet below the galley. Install the pump on the floor, inside the cabinet so that you can stick your foot through the hole to actuate the pump.

These are the type of water pumps  that you find in most PU's. Mine was already installed, but I am sure they can't be that hard to install.
Good Luck  :)

You don't see them on pop-ups because pop-up manufacturers are cheap.  I've never seen one of these before, but it instantly made a ton of sense to me.  The price is the only reason I can think of for them not doing it already.

The foot pump is a great idea Wavery! Putting it in one of the storage areas just under the galley would seem to be convenient. How hard would it be to install one of these foot pumps? Can the existing hoses from a SHURflo hand pump be used?

You would have to cut a hole in your cabinetry base, big enough to put the tip of your foot through with the pedal in the "up" position. You screw the pump to the floor with 4 screws. You position it so that about 1" of the pedal sticks out of the hole.

I don't know if your current hoses will reach (I imagine they would). Most of those pumps use 3/8" clear plastic hose (rated for drinking water). You can get it at Home Depot or any marine store. You could also pick up a couple of 3/8" connectors. They even come in 90 degree angles, if you need that.

The way that you install that type hose, you shouldn't need clamps. You heat a pan of boiling water. Take the pan off of the heat and stick the end of the hose in the water until it becomes very soft. Ease the hose over the connection and let it cool. It should shrink to a tight fit. Make your hose a little longer than you need so that if you have to remove it, you just cut it off.

Thanks Wavery - sounds easy enough. I have the same camper as you only a 2001. So if it worked in your PUP it should in mine.

WHOOOOPS!!! Don't get me wrong.....I didn't do it in my PU. I did it in my yacht.

In fact, now that you mention it, the wheel well may be in the way. You'll have to take a look at it.
