Quote from: kimrb266I told DH that you guys were going to FF again but unfortunately, we are camping for 2x this month and that's enough for DH. Wish us luck when we're in Yosemite, we don't want to re-live last years bear invasion.

I'm always open to new trips. It's not my work schedule that gets in the way of my camping. My work is mobile, I can take my 3 kids anywhere and still do my job. I work 24/7 anywhere I am and the kids are always up for it but DH has his work that keeps me on a camping leash. I'll have camping reservations for months and what does his work do, they plan a DUI checkpoint during it, causing us to cancel or inconvenience it.

Have fun on your trip and eat a bear claw for me from Solvang.
Kim,

I think it's time you learned to hitch that camper up and tow it to the cg yourself! I did it with the PU and would do it with the hybrid if I had to. Just put on your big, bad self and go girl! :D

Azusateach

Kim, if I can do it, you can too.  Heck, there's always a guy around if you really need one!  Hitching's the easy part -- it's getting the bunk doors up.  But once you figure out a system that works for you then you've got it made.  And there are SO many places closeby that you could travel to!  Think of the possibilities!

yeah Kim ..you go girl..Hellllo??? who do you think does it in my household...if you want I can come over and give you lessons  :p

My mamma always told me "if you are waitin' around for a man to do it...you could be waiting a long time"

I think I'm going to start Dee's towing school for woman :screwy:

Dan STILL can't get the hitch up from start to finish..I think 'cause he REALLY doesn't want to know. I said what if something happens to me during a campout & I can't pack it up and tow it home.  He replied...I'll just pay someone to do it....such a dork :banghead:

Lori, Dave, Griffin;

I plan to leave Long Beach at 0:dark:30 Sunday morning.  Melissa has an engagement on Saturday or I'd head out earlier.  We should be in Buellton before noon.  Hopefully well before.

Tonight Kristi and I drank our last bottle of wine.  A nice Tobin James Primativo.  The kids want to get another 25 pound bag of carrots and feed the Icelandic Ponies at the Schmalztopf farm.  What say we make a run Sunday afternoon the grueling one mile to the bend in Santa Rosa Road to feed horses on one side and check out some nice wine at the Mosby winery across the street?

If you're interested I'll take care of the carrots and arrangements with the Schmalztopf's.

Then of course the potluck...

after much deliberation..I sadly say we can't swing this one...even tho it's killing me not to go :banghead:

Jim,

Thanks for the offer. We'll have to play it by ear. We went to the beach last weekend and Griffin is hooked on boogey boarding, so we may be at the beach Sunday. Also, my mom had to miss the last FF camp out and is going through serious AJ Spurs withdrawals. We promised to take her that Sunday for dinner.

So little time, so much to do.

Melissa is also a budding boogie boarder, in addition to her skindiving and self-taught water ballet.  Next year I plan to just drop her off at the beach in June and pick her up in September.

What beach?  If it's before Buellton we could meet for the 6 year old boogie board olympics.  Feeding the ponies can wait 'till Monday morning.

I told dh that you think that I should learn how to tow the HTT so I wouldn't have to depend on him and this is his reaction, "Oh Great".  We then began talking about the time I was pulling the Santa Fe on our way to Sequoia and a truck cut me off so I locked my breaks and we almost crashed.  I told him that he can put me onto the fwy on our way to Yosemite and let me drive until I tire.  We'll see how it goes.

Gee did he roll his eyes too??  You go girl...you can do it!! :U

Kim, just give him a dramamine (sp?) and tell him to chill out.  If he expects something to happen it probably will.  Just remember that the stopping distance is WAY longer pulling a HTT than even a pop-up.  Don't let anyone -- including your DH -- intimidate you, either before you get behind the wheel or while you're driving.  You might even tell him that you want to try hitching up at home.  Of course, he can direct you, since you don't have your hitching poles yet.  But you CAN do this & some day you'll need to.  It's really a mind-over-matter thing.  Finesse, not brute strength.  I'm rooting for you!

Not sure what beach yet. We may go up to Pismo, since it has a nice gradual slope and there isn't a shore break. Plus, Griffin loves Pismo and we weren't able to camp there this summer. He loves collecting the sand dollars and walking out on the pier. I'll let you know once we make a decision. :)

What am I thinking?  I just grabbed some tickets for the Strawberry Music Festival near Yosemite over Labor Day weekend.  Kristi didn't really want us going because we're all very exhausted after it, and Melissa starts school on Wednesday.  But oh well.  It is an incredibly awesome event.

That means that my little daddy vs. two kids trip is officially 23 days long as of now.  I may not live.  I might delay departure by a few days.

Jim

Did I say "delay departure"?  Heresy!  We ride at dawn!  Okay, maybe more like 9:00.  But we're off tomorrow and won't return 'till Labor Day or possibly the day after.  The only definite plans are FF, Santa Cruz, see my brother and parents in Paradise & Lake Oroville, then Yosemite for the Strawberry Music Festival.
