Located off U.S. 221 in Linville Falls, N.C. (think heart of the mountains). I LOVED this campground. Except for the light. More on that later. Private run campground with 35 camper sites, separate tent section and rental campers and cabins scattered around. This is off the beaten path, and you will have to take several windy, mountain roads to get there. But it is worth it. Sites are gravel and largely level, expect to do some fine tuning. Site sizes vary from smidge too small (ours, #27) to just right to smidge too big. Quiet campground with appropriate small feel. Don't miss sitting on the porch talking with fellow campers or with owners Jim and Dot. You are within 45 minutes (remember, mountain driving!) of all sorts of attractions -- Grandfather Mountain, Boone, Blowing Rock, Mast General Store (in Valle Crucis, go. Now!), Asheville and Biltmore House, Linville Falls, hiking trails; horse stables; all sorts of outdoor activies. Rates are very reasonable. If you stay, be sure to visit Louise's Rock House Cafe in Linville Falls for one dinner. Single bath house has only two showers, but for small campground that's OK. They are kept up quite well. Downsides -- laundry facilities is one washer and dryer, you must have quarters and be prepared to wait on the drying. Also, the light. There is one light in the campground. It's about six feet off the ground and shines brightly onto spots 26, 27, 28 and 29. I was thinking about borrowing my son's sling shot and ...
Bottom line -- Would I return? In a heartbeat. Price, location, atmosphere make this a great campground, especially for PUps.

Sounds Like a Nice spot - glad you liked it..  those Mountains out there are nice huh?  I really enjoy camping there myself (the Asheville area that is).

We lived in Western NC for five or six years and hated leaving. Going back for an 11-day visit made us want to move back up there. The entire region, from Murphy to West Jefferson is just an amazing outdoor area. The only downside of the trip was I lost my wife's 1987 class ring while scaling peaks at Grandfather Mountain.

AHH - No good - looks like you'll have to plan another trip back to look for it huh?  LOL!  Only kidding, sorry for the loss - hopefully she was OK with it.
