Installing AC

I am finishing a complete roof overhall and will be reinstalling the AC this week-end.  I bought a univeral gasket that goes between the roof of the unit and the AC, around the 14" hole.  It has adhesive on one side. Does anyone know, does the adhesive side go against the roof of the pop-up or the AC?

On mine the adhesive went against the AC Unit
