We had a terrific time.  I highly recommend this campground.  The park itself it fairly large with lots of hiking, fishing and sights to see (approach trail to the AT plus the falls).  Only  25 sites all with water/electric hookup.  The sites are big.  With our camper open and the pathfinder parked in front of it we could have put another camper behind us, 1 next to us and 2 more good size vehicles.  All had a fire pit (with grill) and a separate grill and picnic table.

Very quiet except for the extremely noisy crickets (which I actually liked).

Bathroom/shower facilities were clean (old but clean) and easy to get to.  Plus there is a washer and drier (we recommend bringing your own detergent).

You have the same access to the lodge (buffet, ice etc) as the folks actually staying in the lodge.

$25 per night.

We went to Amicalola Falls in mid-October of 2005, when the weather would be cooler. It is a beautiful park, which we highly recommend. Apparently, around that time every year, there is a lady-bug migration. Unfortunately, what the cute little lady bugs are looking for is warmth. They found warmth.... inside of our PU, along with everybody else's camper (I'm talking about tens of thousands of lady bugs).

After driving to the closest Home Depot (which isn't very close), and purchasing a shop vac, I spent 4 hours vacuuming lady bugs out of the camper. Luckily, the lodge had one room left (since there were still hundreds of lady bugs in the camper), and we stayed there for the night. We left the next day, because the migration lasts several weeks, and camped elsewhere.

If going to Amicalola Falls, call ahead to get an idea of when they expect the annual migration to take place, and plan your trip for a different time of the year.

By the way, I'm still find lady bugs (dead) in the PU.

Amicalola is one of our favorite parks to camp.  We love to go during Gold Rush weekend in nearby Dahlonega and visit the festival.  I love waking up there on a cool fall morning and seeing all the beautiful leaves.  The campsites are large and the whole park is great.
