After not being able to take Sue's spot Labor Day because DH was called to work that Friday evening, I was pursuaded (sp) by a couple of the girls here to learn to tow the trailer myself.  Well, I pulled the trailer both directions on our trip to Yosemite and felt more comfortable the second time.  DH pulled it during traffic and most of the city driving and I took over for the straight freeway drivnig.  I pulled the trailer into our camping site in Visalia, luckily it was a pull through slot.  If it wasn't, DH would have had to take over and back it in.  I by no means am ready to pull the trailer all on my own but maybe one day, I'll be able to back it in.

YEAH ME!!!

Yay!  Good for you.  I towed our trailer on a long trip on Hwy 99 from Yosemite last year.  It felt pretty good but I'm glad that I don't have to do it all the time.   It's good to be the co-pilot.

Good for you Kim!  I never had any doubts, though.  It's all a matter of wrapping your head around the concept that men don't have a special gene that enables them to do these things better than women.  It's another myth, you know, that men are better at this stuff than women.  They just don't admit (as readily) when they make mistakes or need help.  Remember, it's not about braun -- it's all about finesse.

Do it again -- soon!

Kim find a big parking lot and learn how to back your trailer into a parking space after hours. It's like driving a stick shift. You just need practice and then you'll be a pro.

Great job, Kim. You probably did the hardest part anyway...the freeway driving.

Actually, the hardest part is climbing into the seat. I remember climbing into the seat of a big ol' fire engine the first time, just to learn it (10 speed manual trans). Then a couple of days later, I drove it to a fire! Just getting into the seat was a big step!

Like griffsdad said, find a big parking lot and practice. Use some boxes to aim for, as if it were a camping spot.

First off, Great news for Carol, to be able to drive again.
Next Dee, which Trina are you referring to? Trina 1 or Trina 2?

Maybe a training course is in order.....we could meet at a big parking lot and trade husbands to teach us gals........Because it's so much fun to have your own hubby teaching ya......If you know what I mean.......Just a thought..... :eyecrazy:
thanks for the good words I didn't mean to jump on Kim.....I've just been so excited......sorry, Kim.....

Who needs guys for teachers?  Lori can back up better than any guy I know.  I've got the hitching down to a fine art (with hitching poles), and we ALL know how to empty holding tanks.  The guys will just laugh, or get red in the face & quit talking ...

griffsmom

I actually like backing up the camper. :o

Kim--You go girl!! :#

PS Yea, Carol!! Zoom Zoom Zoom!! :D
