I keep searching recipe sites but I am not much of a cook to start with.  All we have is the stove and a gas grill.  Any favorite, family friendly meals.

Thanks for your help

Search here for "packet meals" or "foil meals".  Quick, easy, and if you have picky eaters, everyone can have their own specific ingredients.  It's not limited to camping, either.  We will occasionally have them at home on the gas grill when we don't want to heat the kitchen.

Cleanup is a snap...throw the foil away.

Camp close to a McDonalds.   LOL   That was a joke

I am starting to go for easy meals.  I've started buying packages that can be mixed with canned meat (example:  Tuna Cakes/Tuna Melts) and lightly fried.  Pretty much use canned vegetables when camping, or use pressure cooker recipes and my pressure cooker.  Quick, easy and easy to clean up are pretty much what I go for.

I gotta admit...that's the first time I've seen "easy" and "pressure cooker" in the same sentence...and while talking camping, too! :p I know using a pressure cooker isn't complicated, but I can remember what our kitchen used to get like when my mother brought out her pressure cooker!  :%   I briefly thought you must be from Colrado or Utah, because sometimes at altitude a pressure cooker is needed to have dinner done before midnight.  But it turns out you're from Maryland.

One of the things that makes this board fun is you never know what you'll hear.

Easy things we do:

Hotdogs and chips, often times just roasted over the camp fire (the dogs not the chips ;)) so no need to start the grill. We usually do grilled chicken. I brine all our poultry so what I do is get the chicken in the brine before the trip. I also plan whole meals that cook on the grill. My fav is steak, asparagus and baked potato. Par-cook some potatoes in your microwave before your trip, wrap em in tin foil then when you fire up the grill or camp fire put them next to the heat. Throw some fresh rosemary sprigs on the taters before you wrap them in the foil, yum. Grill the asparagus with your meat. Boxed rice is easy on the camp stove. Pre-bagged salad whether store bought or done yourself is convenient. Box cereals for breakfast is quick and easy but we do like to go full blown and do steak eggs potatoes etc. Also the instant oatmeal

There is one recipe that I haven't made in years but is very camp friendly.  It is called "Hobo Stew" it can be made with or without meat, usually ground beef.  If you use ground beef, cook it first, drain and add other ingredients.
Dump entire contents of canned vegetables in pot and cook.
Your "stew" will vary with each time you try.  The combinations of veg's can come up with some interesting tastes but so far I have never tasted a bad Hobo stew.

PS - One pot-luck hobo even included canned beets!  Color left something to be desired but taste was great!

AustinBoston:  Got a chuckle out of that one.  Seriously, my pressure cooker is my camping pal...kinda nice to have a pork roast with taters, carrots, etc., in what - 20-30 minutes (depending upon size).  One pot to cook in and only one pot to clean.

Just started using the Glad microwave steamer bags at home (trying them out) and have been pleased with the results.  Tried them out with a few frozen fish fillets sprinkled with lemon pepper and slathered with a little butter - 4 minutes they're done.  Not rubbery or under/over cooked.  Clean up - just toss the bag!  Love it.  Might use them in the PUP!

But back to the original poster - some menu ideas for using your camp stove might be the pre-seasoned chicken fillets, just fry them as directed.  Instant mashed pototoes, maybe a can of chicken gravy heated, a can of veggies.  Dessert might be a can of peaches/pears with maybe some canned whipped cream as a garnish!

Burgers/baked beans coleslaw, potato salad (cheat and use canned diced pototes and make life easier).

Hamburger Helper!
Tuna Helper!

A buddy of mine makes a pulled pork dish in his pressure cooker and I believe it's just a pork loin and BBQ sauce in the pressure cooker till it falls apart. He makes this in the fall when it's a little chilly out. Every one huddles around the pressure cooker with their paperplates and asks," Is it done yet?!" The BBQ sauce he uses has alot of mollasses in it. Tasty dish!
