We'll be trying our recently purchased 2002 Starcraft over Labor Day weekend.  I was told at the time of purchase that the battery needed to be replaced as it was not holding a charge.  The camping spot we reserved has a 220 amp outlet.  But, if the power goes out, I'll need a battery.  Anyone know of a good (and affordable) battery I can get for my trip?

Thanks for any information you can provide.

First, welcome to PUT!

Second, I'm sure you don't have a 220 amp power available at the campground. Most houses are wired with 150 or 200 amp boxes!

I wonder if someone told you, "There are two 20 amp outlets available", meaning there are 2 outlets on a 20 amp circuit. Usually, they are 15 (or 20), 30, and 50 amp. 50 amp is for the big rigs with 2 AC's, washer/dryer, etc.

I personally recommend either Interstate or a Walmart battery. But get a deep cycle battery, and also a good charger for when you are not using it. Group 27 is a decent mid-level deep-cycle battery.

I got a good deep cycle battery at Advanced Auto that was actually less than Wal-Mart.

Check around on prices, you may surprise yourself. I got a good deal on a deep cycle 27 battery at a boat dealership.

I wouldn't even bother with the battery this year.  You'd be better off waiting until next spring so that you don't have to maintain it this winter and only get 1 use (assuming the power goes out) from it.
