Anywhere in Orange County (Disneyland area) , LA or even San Diego would be nice, depending how far you want to go. The weather could be good, cold or rainy but probably better than Northern Calif. I used to live by Disneyland, the weather is always pleasant there.

Good luck.

Where we just stayed in Yorba Linda, Canyon RV Park, would be a good choice. It's off the same freeway that Disneyland is off of and not far at all.  It would be a good location as a launching point to many of the So. Cal. area attractions, including just the "trendier" shopping centers and stuff.

If you want to head South toward San Diego for a day or two, you could stay at some of the SD County Parks.  Also, Woods Valley Kampground in Valley Center is nice, but I'm not sure what the weather might be like that time of year.

Thanks for the suggestions. What I am looking for is a low key CG , trees, dirt, campfires, a river or lake perhaps? Since we

We stayed at Woods Valley last year after a rainstorm and wouldn't recommend this campground AT ALL.  After it rains, it's extremely muddy and you may get stuck in the mud and need to call AAA to get you out.  There's not much around there to do and you will have to travel about 30 -45 minutes to Legoland and farther for Seaworld and the zoo.  The campground has a little zoo with horses, pigs, goats & sheep there but you can't feed the animals and they weren't kept in very good conditions.

I went here last year because this campground was recommended and had THE WORST trip ever.  Some of our disappointment probably was due to the complications of the rain but even if there wasn't any rain, I wouldn't return.  There's nothing there to offer.

Again, Kim, we've stayed there at least a half dozen times, with no problems.  One time it did rain, but we weren't setting up in it so we didn't have the bad experiences you did.  There are things to do --Bates Nut Farm is one mile away, Bell Gardens about five miles away (both cool places to visit), and Lake Wolford is very close by.  They were also putting in a casino somewhere in the area, but I'm not sure where it is, just that it's close by.  So don't rule it out -- it's one of our favorite places to go.  It's woodsy, rustic, but with decent bathrooms/showers and hook-ups.  Not all campgrounds are for all people, I guess.
