Folks,

I am new to this Hybrid thing and could use some help. How do you level the Hybrid ? Or do you? It looks like you can only park on a very level spot at these camp sites.  I guess one reason being is the low piping for the Black and Grey water output ? Also is there a special kind of sewer hose I should get ? 10/20 feet, light duty, heavy duty etc ? Your help as always is greatly appreciated.

I use Lynx Levelers. That's what we used with the PU, so it isn't so hard for me to do an educated guess on how many we need, and how to set them up. For our tandem axle, I have 2 sets, but rarely need all of them.

As for the hose, the cheap one that came with it has already developed pinholes after 4 trips. When I go to Camping World next time, I'm gonna get one that is really strong.

Not sure how long ours is, but I suspect it isn't longer than 10 feet. So far, I haven't needed one longer than that.

brainpause,

With the Lynx levelers do you have to keep playing with them to get the trailer level ? I mean backing the trailer back and forth over them ? With the Coleman popup I had it had to be within 3 degrees for the refrig to operate.

We have a TT.  I use 2x10's under one side to level.  I've got 2 sets that I can use to raise one side up to 3".  I rarely have to use 2.  From there, I use the stabilizers to "fine tune" the leveling.  The stabilizers on the TT are capable of lifting 5,000 lbs each (our camper weighs 5,500 lbs. loaded) and the frame is capable of handling the stress.  Check with your dealer if you have any doubts about your situation.  At any rate, I'm only moving one side up about 3/4" at most, so haven't had a problem doing that.

I'm assuming your OK with leveling from front to back with the tongue jack.  We've not had a problem with sewer connections being too low due to leveling.  Use the most heavy duty hose you can buy.  Quality does make a difference.  Don't use the rear bumper as storage for the hose, you'll rust out your bumper.  We use a medium size Sterlite box from WalMart and store it in one of the hatches.

Note: when leveling campers with tandem axles, make sure you've got leveling material under both wheels.

Whitestar -- we also have a Jayco 23B, though ours is an 06 model (but I'll bet they are virtually identical structurally).

We use the Lynx-type leveling blocks (I call them "Legos"), and all it takes is a bit of experience on how many blocks to use.

I installed a fairly large (3 inches?) leveling bubble on the side of my camper near the front jack, and it has numbers on each side (for how far off level):

I've learned that when it is at about 0.5, it takes 1 block under each wheel.  There are times that I put 2 under 1 wheel, and 1 under the other wheel - yes, that puts a bit more strain on one axle, but I've learned how to exactly level the camper with the Legos :)

As for the sewer drain -- on ours, it is very close to the wheels.  That means it would be incredibly hard to hit it on anything -- if the ground were that unlevel, there is no way the back bumper would have escaped being hit!

The only problem I have is it is quite low.  This means it is very hard, sometimes, to hook up a drain and unload (some campgrounds have the sewer up on a curb, not at street level).

Lastly, I put an electric tongue jack on it -- now my wife doesn't mind doing the "cranking" to level it :)

I have rarely had to come off my initial setup of blocks to add or take away. Every now and then, I mis-guess (is that a word?).

I don't have to use more than 3, almost ever. Usually it takes 0-2 blocks under one side. The thing to remember is that if you get it pretty close, the natural "set" of the camper, along with the suspension, will help level it. I have actually gotten it close enough that a round object won't roll on the table, on a number of occasions.

Many people don't like the Lynx, but I simply have no problem with them, and can guess pretty easily.

well , we use the "lynx's" , but alot of the time we don't need too, my job is when dh is backing in the site, and we decide where we basically want the camper I watch the leveler, and if the bubble is close to center and we are close to the spot we decided on, i call it. if it off too much I suggest we change the angle or laid out the levelers and roll on them. normally we only have to lay down four, which is four flat for the two wheels. We carry two bags of them, reason being, they have many uses, If you find yourself in a low spot and it puddles infront of your step, you can use them to make a walk way, if it sandy you can use them as a mat,  or to keep coolers or boxs off the ground, the work well as a jack! when we got a flat on the road, we took out the "lynxs"and rolled up on the good tire and changed out the flat one,(ta
ndem)  they also work to keep the sewer hose pitched right.  we carry a short 4ft and a 7ft hose, never need anything longer
