Hello all! I am new to this board and to searching for my first pop up. I have a couple of questions pertaining to the 2005 Fleetwood Victory. I am in the process of going to look at one and I would like to know what the bluebook is on this model and year in "mint/like new condition" as well as any personal experiences with this pop up. I have never purchased a pop up nor have I experienced sleeping in one. I have been wanting one for a long time. Now that I am having my mid-life crisis I believe it is time. Any input would be extremely helpful.

Thanks!

David,

Welcome to the forum. As a newbie myself, I can tell you that you will get a lot of helpful imformation from this group. I have learned a lot in a couple of weeks. I took my first trip in my PUP last night and thouroughly enjoyed it. Sorry I can't help you with info on that model or on the blue book but I am sure you will get quite a few responses from people that can help you.

Welcome David!

Seems like someone posted recently that you could get values from //www.nada.com so give that a look.  You might also look on Craigslist in your surrounding areas, as well as ebay.  You might find a swingin' deal.

For sleeping comfort, many of us have added 2" or 3" memory foam mattress toppers to our bunks. Makes a world of difference.  They are on sale off and on at places like Target (just had their 1-1/2" version on sale for $20), Walmart (just had their thin one for $15), overstock.com has good prices and at Costco they run about about $119 for a 3" novafoam queen (which is what we use both at home and in the camper).

Have fun with your hunt and/or purchase!

Hello David and welcome to PUT. you can check online with RV trader online to get an idea on what PU prices are in your area. There is no official blue book on RVs, so this is your best bet on finding out what the prices are in your area.
I have to tell you that the Victory model is a really nice layout. I almost got this model, but decided for two people it was to big, but for a family this would be a great model to have.
good luck and happy memories.

I just purchased an 05 Fleetwood Bayside this year and I have to tell you I wouldn't do it again. Turns out they have a problem with the roofs leaking on these models for a run of a few years, 05 is one of them. Even though this unit is only 2 years old and I paid almost 8 grand for it and this has been a known problem for a few years Fleetwood is pretty much telling me to go pound salt. Since I'm the second owner they won't do anything.

I think I've got it mostly stopped but there was still some staining on the one canvas so I don't know for sure if it was just from moisture trapped in there when I fixed it or if there is still a slow leak. Who knows what kind of damage has been done inside the roof in the last 2 years. Now I've either got to hope the roof doesn't fall apart in the next few years or do like the dealer did, clean it up and sell it to some other unsuspecting soul this spring. Not a good position to be in.

I'd look for another manufacturer if I were you, one that has some integrity and cares about what comes off their line. I realize most of these manufacturers have some problems but letting these kinds of things go on for years before changing it and then not fixing the ones that do leak is just wrong. Just my opinion.

Hi David
I read what one member said a while back about popups and that is they are mostly made with like materials and appliances. It best not to buy more then you need ,If you need all the room and features of a top end fleetwood. Then thats what you should buy.But they weight more and cost more and are heavy to tow.

I thought when I bought a pop up I would just load it up and camp.  it would be set up to go with no repairs or up grades needed.( like buying a new car just gas it up and go.)

That maybe so with a 100,000 $and up ,motor home but from what I have seen from popups  that is not true. They are a great buy for the price but I do not feel the package is complete. And if it was they would have to sell them for a higher price.

So what ever you buy new or used I will take quite a bit of fixing and maintenance to have trouble free camping .

After my pop up purchace 08 rockwood , I have spent several hours to fab the propane and battery mount to fit 2 12 volt deep cycle group 27s and covers  (bought 2 6 volts and wired them up , they were junk )
solder all appliance , converter .and other wiring joints about 20 I could reach ( factory poor 110 type twist conections )factory 110 twist may be fine for double wide mobile homes but not for a trailer boucing down camping roads
properly securely mount converter and add removeable cover ,add 12volt to 110 transformer with wall outlets for use with out 110 hook ups .install external water pump , propane leak detector ,transformer switchs, test wire and set up popup  ( did not pay set up fee)
yet to do proper refrigerator vent upgrade.
factoy frig setup not vented very well.
